According to TCD , Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Zeekr has just launched new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, providing 'super-fast' battery charging from 10% to 80% in just 10 and a half minutes. This is considered the fastest electric vehicle charging speed in the world today.
Zeekr electric car has record-breaking fast charging capability
This impressive achievement was announced by Zeekr in a recent press release, affirming the company's leading position in the electric vehicle battery technology race. The new LFP battery will be equipped in the new Zeekr 007 sedan, which is also available for delivery now.
Not only does the Zeekr LFP battery charge quickly, it also performs well in low temperatures. Even at -10 degrees Celsius, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
Zeekr is competing directly with big rivals like Tesla and Polestar in the fast-charging space. Tesla currently offers a Supercharger network that can charge 200 miles in 15 minutes, while the Polestar 5 also has technology to charge from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes.
In addition to developing battery technology, Zeekr is also investing heavily in charging infrastructure. The company aims to build 10,000 super-fast charging stations by 2026, helping to ease the 'range anxiety' of electric vehicle users.
However, Zeekr's ambitions to expand internationally are still facing challenges from high tariffs in the US and Europe.
