Building animal disease-free livestock farming areas to open up many export opportunities

On the side of Binh Phuoc province, receiving and working with the delegation were Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Pham Thuy Luan and representatives of departments, branches, localities, and livestock enterprises in the province.

Before the working session, the delegation visited and worked directly with CPV Food Binh Phuoc Company Limited. This is one of the largest and most modern food investment projects in Vietnam, operating in a closed supply chain from animal feed, farms to food processing factories.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Tran Van Phuong reported on the situation of disease prevention and control and the construction of animal disease-free livestock farming areas in the province.

At the working session with Binh Phuoc province, the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment listened to the livestock enterprises' sharing about the results achieved, advantages, difficulties as well as recommendations towards the goal of promoting the development of the industry.

Representatives of livestock enterprises in the province attended the meeting.

To date, Binh Phuoc province has 424 pig farms and 88 poultry farms. Of these, 202 farms have been granted certificates of eligibility for large-scale livestock farming. In the first quarter of 2025, the pig herd reached 2,071.45 thousand heads; the poultry herd was 11.280 million heads; the buffalo herd reached 12,520 heads; and the cow herd reached 42,150 heads.

In the first 4 months of 2025, Binh Phuoc has been implementing the first phase of vaccination for livestock and poultry in 2025. The provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has distributed 1,060,800 doses of avian influenza vaccine, 1,027,750 doses of Newcastle vaccine, 60,600 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine and 10,910 doses of classical swine fever vaccine to the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to implement vaccination for livestock and poultry.

Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Duong Tat Thang emphasized the favorable conditions of Binh Phuoc for developing industrial livestock farming.

The Provincial People's Committee has made proposals to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to effectively implement disease prevention and control, animal disease safety in the province in the coming time, such as: Providing specific instructions on building animal disease-safe zones according to the standards and criteria of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and technical solutions for building disease-safe zones in the new situation; Advising the Government to issue new policies to support animal disease prevention and control, to create favorable conditions for localities in implementing animal disease prevention and control.

In addition, after streamlining the apparatus, merging provinces and communes, and abolishing the district level, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to issue regulations and guidelines on disease prevention and control, and building disease-free zones in accordance with the actual situation; guide the construction and organization of local veterinary livestock management apparatus, especially commune-level veterinary in the coming time to ensure the capacity to prevent and control diseases and build disease-free zones.

The Deputy Minister stated that no other province has a favorable environment for investing in developing livestock into an industrial zone like Binh Phuoc. Building animal disease-free livestock areas is the foundation for exporting livestock products. Therefore, the Deputy Minister suggested that Binh Phuoc province work closely with businesses to provide timely and effective support to both create momentum for export development and ensure economic growth.
