Thanks to focusing on investing and taking care of nearly 2 hectares of rubber trees, 3,000 square meters of rice land, raising chickens, pigs and growing valuable fruit trees, her family also has an income of more than 100 million VND each year.
Ms. Tet shared: My house is near the border area, for many years now, I have been visited by acquaintances from Kim Binh district who have given me instructions on how to care for and prevent diseases on crops and livestock. In particular, exploiting the potential and advantages of the land to grow bananas and cassava for commercial purposes. Thanks to that, the economy has grown more and more and I always obey the law, preserve and protect the peaceful national border so that people on both sides can develop together.
Mr. Tran Bao Trung, Chairman of Phong Tho District People's Committee, said: Currently, Phong Tho District and Kim Binh District, Yunnan Province, China have 4 pairs of friendly twinned villages. The twinned activities aim to further strengthen the solidarity and ethnic ties of the people on both sides of the border.
"In particular, through the twinning content, the people on both sides of the border actively support each other in economic, cultural and social development; build sentiment, awareness and responsibility for the cause of building, managing and protecting the common border between the two countries, contributing significantly to building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and sustainably developed Vietnam - China border," said Mr. Trung.
To achieve socio-economic development goals, especially border protection tasks and support for people, in the twinned communes, the District People's Committee has also issued a poverty reduction plan, focusing on the following contents: Reducing the annual poverty rate, increasing people's income and reducing extremely disadvantaged communes.
The District People's Committee directs specialized agencies and commune People's Committees to advise and effectively implement socio-economic development in the area, especially effectively implementing the three national target programs. These things have helped stabilize people's lives; the average income per capita of the district is higher year after year. If in 2022, the poverty rate of the district was 43.8%, then by 2023 the poverty rate of the district decreased to 37.9%. In 2024, the poverty rate is estimated to decrease to 32.5% and strives to decrease to 27% by 2025.
