The economy has continuously grown at a high and stable rate, maintaining a double-digit GRDP growth rate for 9 consecutive years (2015-2023). Even in the most difficult period caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Quang Ninh has still made a miracle in the innovation process. The scale of the economy is increasing rapidly, reaching 315,839 billion VND in 2023, 5.7 times higher than in 2010, ranking 3rd in the Northern region (after Hanoi and Hai Phong), contributing 10.1% to the total economic scale of the Red River Delta. Quang Ninh is always in the group of provinces and cities with the highest contribution to the national budget (domestic revenue in the period 2016-2020 ranked in the top 5 provinces and cities with the highest revenue) and is one of 18 localities nationwide that regulate the national budget. For 11 consecutive years from 2013 to 2023, Quang Ninh has been in the group of 5 provinces and cities with the best economic management quality in the country. At the same time, it is also the only locality in the country to maintain the top position in PCI for 7 consecutive years; leading the SIPAS index for 5 consecutive years; leading the PAR Index for 6 years.
From a locality with a weak transport infrastructure system, Quang Ninh has now become one of the localities with the most synchronous and modern transport system in the country with all types. The urbanization rate is among the highest in the country, with 4 cities and 2 towns under the province, the urbanization rate by the end of 2023 reaching 69.46%. At the same time, it is one of the 5 provinces with the highest urbanization rate.
In particular, after 12 years from the first launch in 2010 to the end of 2022, Quang Ninh province has completed the new rural construction program at all 3 levels and reached the finish line 3 years ahead of schedule of the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2021 - 2025.
