Quang Ninh is the only locality in the country that has both a land and sea border with China. The province's 13 administrative units have 10 districts, towns and cities with border areas, managing more than 118 km of land border and nearly 70 km of sea border.
Over the past years, the Quang Ninh Border Guard has effectively led, directed and organized the implementation of the contents of "People's Border Guard Day", thereby raising awareness and close relationships with people in border areas, contributing to local economic development and building the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard increasingly strong in the new situation.
In addition to preserving national border sovereignty, the most outstanding result in the past 5 years is that the Quang Ninh Border Guard Command mobilized, strengthened and maintained 29 comrades to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee and participate in the Executive Committee of the District and Border City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term; 95 comrades are Party members of the Provincial Border Guard participating in activities at Party cells of villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods in border, sea, and island areas; hundreds of Party members were assigned to be in charge of 1,490 households in border, sea, and island areas; advised localities to establish nearly 500 border marker self-management teams, security and order teams in villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods... This is the core force that helps the Quang Ninh Border Guard advise on many important decisions, handle border issues in accordance with the law, and avoid being passive and surprised.
Colonel Le Xuan Men, Political Commissar of the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command, said: With the important role of the border guard force, the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee agreed to the policy of issuing a Resolution on strengthening the Party's leadership in the task of building, managing, and protecting territorial sovereignty in the province and building the provincial border guard force to meet the requirements of the task in the new situation.
Colonel Le Xuan Men said: "For the first time, a local Party Committee has a specialized resolution on border work and building a border force, due to the characteristics of the organizational structure and leadership management mechanism. Among the 44 provinces and cities with border guards nationwide, Quang Ninh is the leading province and also the first province in the country to have a specialized resolution on border work and building a force in the new situation. We are coordinating with specialized agencies to strive to submit it for signing on March 3 this year."
