Building Vinh city into 'city of light'

Comrade Nguyen Duc Hoai - Head of the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission raised the issue of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh; flood prevention work and especially the concretization of the idea of ​​building Vinh city into a "city of light at night".

Directly answering this question, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council said that the space of Vinh city has become narrow, "the shirt is too tight" is the common perception of the provincial leaders. Therefore, in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, it is determined to expand the space of Vinh city.

Right from the beginning of the term, the province has focused on building the Project and is currently determining the plan to adjust the administrative boundaries to expand Vinh city, including adjusting the entire natural area and existing population size of Cua Lo town to Vinh city management; at the same time, adjusting the entire natural area and existing population size of 4 communes: Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho, Nghi Thai, Nghi Phong to Vinh city management.

Following this plan, Vinh City after adjustment has a natural area of ​​166.24 ^km2 ; population of 575,718 people; has 36 commune-level administrative units, including 27 wards and 9 communes.

Currently, the above plan has been approved by the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee and is being prepared according to regulations to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration.

“After expansion, Vinh City will become a coastal city, with all the conditions for development and become one of the growth drivers of the province,” emphasized Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy.

Regarding the idea of ​​building Vinh city into a “city of light at night”, the Provincial Party Secretary said that this issue was personally suggested by the Provincial Party Secretary to the city leaders and also through the opinion at this conference, the Vinh City leaders continued to receive opinions to implement and build a symbol for the city.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested that agencies located in the city have a plan to save money to arrange lighting decoration at the agency at night, contributing to beautifying the city.

The Provincial Party Secretary also assessed that the city's leaders have responded very strongly to the issue of flood prevention in recent times. Thereby, the city's leaders directly committed to significantly reducing flood spots this year while focusing on dredging and upgrading drainage infrastructure. "All comrades are following, if there is no change, we will make recommendations to the leaders of Vinh City," the Provincial Party Secretary suggested.

Regarding this content, comrade Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee added that according to the plan, in the first quarter of 2024, the Vinh City Expansion Project will be submitted to the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Comrade Phan Duc Dong added that Vinh City has been devoting many resources to dealing with drainage issues, especially in the coming time when there is a project borrowing from the World Bank, it will continue to prioritize the arrangement.

Regarding the construction of Vinh city into a "City of Light", comrade Phan Duc Dong said that, based on the suggestion of the Provincial Party Secretary, Vinh City has conducted surveys in Da Lat City and Ho Chi Minh City and is currently working with consultants to carry out the next steps, and it is expected that the project will be approved for implementation by August 2023.
