Organic agriculture is one of the directions of Vietnamese agriculture in general and Ha Tinh in particular. In recent times, Ha Tinh's agricultural sector has proactively integrated policies and programs to build agricultural production models applying good production practices, ensuring food safety.
To date, over 1,896.96 hectares of various crops have been granted VietGAP and GlobalGAP certificates; 3 aquaculture facilities have been certified VietGAP; 8 livestock farms have been certified VietGAHP; 14 agricultural and aquatic product processing facilities have HACCP certificates; 11 agricultural and aquatic product processing facilities have GMP and ISO certificates; 4 processing facilities have ISO certificates and 22 safe product supply chains have been certified...
Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has chaired and consulted with departments, branches and localities to draft the Project on organic agriculture development in Ha Tinh province for the period 2023 - 2030. The project clearly states the necessity, basis and policies for developing the project; overview of the situation, characteristics and current status of organic agriculture development in the province. The project also identifies viewpoints, goals, tasks, implementation solutions and economic, social and environmental efficiency.
Accordingly, the general objective of the project is to develop organic agriculture with high added value, sustainability, and friendliness to the ecological environment, contributing to stabilizing the lives of people in the province associated with circular agricultural economy and comprehensive restructuring of the agricultural sector. Improve the capacity, ability to organize production, competitiveness in processing and consumption of the province. Develop production and certify compliance with organic agricultural standards for the province's key crops to create safe agricultural products.
At the workshop, delegates said that the project was necessary to contribute to restructuring the agricultural sector and developing the rural economy.
Giving comments to continue perfecting the draft project, delegates identified difficulties in organic production and proposed solutions to solve problems such as: changing farming mindset; selecting and improving organic production areas, the impact of climate change; selecting varieties and materials. Especially building a brand, building trust with consumers; output market when the cost of organic products will be higher; difficult control and management of product quality...
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Viet: The implementation of the organic agriculture project must follow a roadmap; the selected objects and scope must be local specialties and advantages. Agricultural production must be associated with enterprises and implemented according to the chain to meet the output market for the products. |
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tho - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that most of the clean, organic production models are still small-scale, household-scale, have not yet built a sustainable safe food production and supply chain, and the products have not been certified to meet quality standards and regulations. Therefore, the development of an organic agriculture development project is extremely necessary.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also provided some additional information about the current status of circular agricultural production and organic agriculture in the area; the basic contents of the project. Based on the opinions of departments, branches, localities, and enterprises, the project drafting team will receive, continue to supplement, and complete the project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.
