Humanitarian Month is an activity of profound humanitarian significance, launched and implemented by the Vietnam Red Cross Society from 2018 to present. Humanitarian Month is held in May every year, the peak month for the whole population to do humanitarian work. This year, Humanitarian Month is held earlier, starting from March 1 to May 31, with the peak from May 8 to 19. The extension of the organization time is to increase community support activities, towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025) - the founder and first honorary president of the Vietnam Red Cross Society. This is also an opportunity to pay tribute to previous generations, continuing and spreading the tradition of mutual love of the nation.
During this year's humanitarian month, the Red Cross chapters at all levels in the province strive to mobilize resources of 4 billion VND to support more than 2,000 humanitarian addresses. In particular, they strive to build and repair 24 houses for families in difficult circumstances; award more than 800 scholarships to poor students who overcome difficulties; organize voluntary blood donation campaigns, receive more than 1,000 units of blood... In parallel with humanitarian assistance activities, the Red Cross chapters at all levels also promote the movement "Good people, good deeds - Joining hands to build a compassionate community" and the campaign "Millions of compassionate footsteps - Continuing the golden history".
Mr. Vu Duc Dien, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Association, said: Compared to previous years, the activities in this year's humanitarian month have been implemented more systematically, creatively and diversely by the Red Cross Associations at all levels. This is also the "finish line" stage of the campaign "Millions of steps of charity - Continuing the golden history", thereby creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere in the entire association system and all classes of people. To continue spreading the meaning of the humanitarian month, in the coming time, the Red Cross Associations at all levels will continue to promote propaganda work, set examples of good people and good deeds in daily life. Promote the role of a bridge and coordinator in humanitarian activities; mobilize organizations, businesses and philanthropists to join hands in implementing long-term and sustainable humanitarian programs such as: sponsoring humanitarian addresses, building houses of gratitude, supporting livelihoods, etc. In addition, the associations at all levels continue to innovate their methods of operation, apply technology to connect more strongly with the community, especially the young generation; Do a good job of praising, rewarding, and replicating typical models, collectives, and individuals in the movement "Good people, good deeds - Joining hands to build a compassionate community". I hope that humanitarian activities will not only stop during the peak month but will spread regularly in the community, bringing love to the poor and people in difficult circumstances, contributing to the good implementation of social security work.
