Gradually developing agriculture in a modern and sustainable direction, in recent times, Hoa Binh city has promoted the potential and advantages of natural conditions to cultivate, raise livestock, and produce effectively, associated with the application of science and technology, preliminary processing, processing, consumption and expanding export markets. Thereby, helping to increase production value and income for people.



Implementing Project No. 03-DA/TU, dated September 9, 2021 (Project No. 03) of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on agricultural development, promoting product consumption associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021-2025, the People's Committee of Hoa Binh City has issued a document implementing Project No. 03 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and implementing the plan of the City Party Committee Standing Committee on implementing Project No. 03.


Accordingly, for cultivation, communes and wards focus on growing fruit trees with high economic value such as grapefruit, orange, dragon fruit, guava, banana, etc. Many areas of ineffective vegetable and mixed gardens have been converted to grow crops with high economic value such as: converting 21.37 hectares of ineffective land to grow arrowroot (Thinh Minh commune); converting nearly 10 hectares of hilly forest land and mixed gardens to grow green thorns and Solanum procumbens (Hoa Binh and Thinh Minh communes); over 20 hectares of green squash and pumpkin (Doc Lap commune). Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Director of Doc Lap Agricultural Service Cooperative, Doc Lap commune said: To ensure product output and income of people participating in the chain, the Cooperative has a plan to invest in specialized production, creating post-harvest products. From plants such as bitter melon, squash, and loofah, the cooperative can produce organic soap products, squash tea bags, loofah cotton swabs, and bamboo charcoal soap.


In order to improve the quality of key agricultural products, commodity production models applying advanced techniques and specialized production chains have also been maintained and expanded. Up to now, in the city, there are a number of deeply processed products such as: black carp floss, black catfish floss, yellow catfish floss of Hai Dang Company Limited; Da River fish fillet products of Cuong Thinh Company Limited; Solanum procumbens extract of Thuong Hao Company Limited; lemongrass essential oil of Dao Thong Nhat Agricultural Cooperative...


At the same time, the city focuses on supporting the issuance of growing area codes and traceability stamps for quality products with great potential for domestic consumption and export. Up to now, 25 hectares of bananas and 14 hectares of grapefruit have been granted growing area codes. Standardization and support for brand building are also of interest. The whole city has 31 3-4 star OCOP products, of which some products such as Da River fish floss, lemongrass essential oil, herbal tea... are available at major supermarket chains, e-commerce platforms and for export. With branded products, the number of products sold on the market has increased by about 30% compared to the initial period; designs and quality have been gradually affirmed.


Promotion, marketing and consumption of key agricultural products have been promoted through coordination and association to develop domestic consumer markets, focusing on the Hanoi market and neighboring areas. Over the past 4 years, the city has organized training to support 160 farmer members, individual production and business households, cooperatives, cooperative groups... to register to participate in e-commerce platforms to connect, promote, introduce products, and expand the market for agricultural products. Up to now, many organizations and individuals have participated in e-commerce platforms such as Postmart.vn, Shoppe.vn, Voso.vn, and the Hoa Binh province e-commerce trading floor (hoabinhtrade.gov.vn)...


Efforts to develop agricultural products associated with preliminary processing, processing, product consumption and export have contributed to increasing the value obtained per hectare of cultivation to 130 million VND. By the end of 2024, the average income per capita of the whole city will reach 100.98 million VND/year.


Comrade Do Viet Trieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh City, commented: After more than 4 years of implementing Project No. 03 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on "Agricultural development, promoting product consumption associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021-2025", agriculture and rural areas of Hoa Binh City have changed significantly, especially major changes in thinking and production methods in agriculture. Thereby, the lives of people in rural areas have increased significantly, many production models with high economic efficiency have appeared, creating jobs for workers. The structure of the agricultural sector has shifted in the right direction.
