The conference is an opportunity to help the coffee industry approach the circular economy, the experiential economy that connects indigenous resources with local cultural and historical experiences. In addition, it helps the coffee industry to proactively adapt better to climate change, market fluctuations and consumer trends. Notably, the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has recently been approved by the European Parliament. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for Buon Ma Thuot coffee in particular and the Vietnamese coffee industry in general, meeting the requirements for green, fast and sustainable development.
Director of the Trade Promotion Agency Vu Ba Phu spoke at the conference. |
According to the Director of the Trade Promotion Agency Vu Ba Phu, the breakthrough and professionalism of the conference is a testament to the efforts of trade promotion activities, connecting trade between regions and areas across the country with countries around the world in the trend of international economic integration. With the message of overcoming difficulties and challenges to rise up in the trend of international economic integration, the International Trade Conference - Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee aims to connect, develop, stabilize the market, enhance competitiveness to reach the regional and world level.
"We believe that the conference will contribute to promoting trade, investment and tourism promotion activities between the provinces of the Central Highlands and provinces and cities across the country and other countries in the world. At the same time, it will increasingly connect, develop and create competitive motivation in the process of multilateral integration and diversification in development" - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency Vu Ba Phu emphasized.
Building a comprehensive strategy to bring Vietnamese coffee to the world
On the sidelines of the conference, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency Vu Ba Phu also shared information related to further developing the Vietnamese coffee industry in the coming time.
According to Mr. Vu Ba Phu, in the context of limited area, as well as productivity and output reaching the planned level, to increase the value of exported coffee requires focusing on deep processing and especially shaping the brand for the coffee industry.
Branding the coffee industry is one of the important factors to increase the value of exported coffee. |
To do that, in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with the Vietnam Coffee - Cocoa Association and related units, will support businesses in building a comprehensive strategy to enhance brand value as well as promote the image of Vietnamese coffee to the world.
In response to the question "What is the prospect for Vietnamese coffee if there is no international trade?" (-PV), Mr. Vu Ba Phu affirmed: "Of course that will not happen".
"If Vietnam does not trade with the international coffee market, we are losing opportunities for the Vietnamese coffee industry. The proof is that our coffee industry is ranked second in the world in terms of output and export value. Not trading with the international market and not participating in the integration process will be a huge disadvantage for Vietnamese coffee," Mr. Vu Ba Phu explained.
The international trade conference was attended by 800 delegates, including 200 international guests. |
In order for coffee to make an impression on consumers and increasingly affirm its brand, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency Vu Ba Phu said that local uniqueness and imprint are extremely important factors.
"Not only Dak Lak but also other coffee-producing localities in Vietnam such as Quang Tri, Son La, Dien Bien,... each locality must find its own differences in coffee products to create unique flavors as well as its own ingredients. It must have its own uniqueness to create an impression in the hearts of consumers, thereby promoting its strengths to promote its coffee image to the world" - Mr. Vu Ba Phu emphasized.
