In recent times, the Quang Ninh Border Guard has effectively implemented high-level emulation campaigns to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) on December 22 (1944-2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day on December 22 (1989-2024). Through these movements, a vibrant and widespread emulation atmosphere has been created, encouraging officers and soldiers of the entire force to strive to excellently complete all assigned tasks; firmly manage and protect the territorial sovereignty and security of the national border areas and border gate areas of the province. At the same time, actively build and consolidate the political system in border communes, care for the lives of ethnic minorities, in order to create a solid border of the people.

We visited Bac Son Border Guard Station, at the right time when the whole unit was enthusiastically competing to achieve achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army on December 22 (1944-2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day on December 22 (1989-2024). From Bac Son Border Guard Station to the teams and stations, we witnessed the determination to complete the task excellently.

These days, the unit’s barracks seem to be wearing a “new coat”. The housing system and the soldiers’ living quarters are renovated, reinforced, bright, green, clean and beautiful. Under the green canopy, flower beds are blooming with flags, banners and slogans.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Kien Hung, Political Commissar of Bac Son Border Guard Station, said: Bac Son Border Guard Station is assigned to manage the area of ​​7 border and coastal communes and wards of Mong Cai City, with a border length of more than 26km and a sea area of ​​50km2. In order to successfully complete the tasks, the Party Committee and the Command Board of the unit have synchronously and comprehensively deployed measures for border management and protection in conjunction with emulation movements. Thereby, encouraging officers and soldiers to promote the spirit of initiative and creativity in performing the task of protecting territorial sovereignty and border security; training and combat readiness; preventing and combating all types of crimes and participating in economic, cultural and social development in the border area.

Responding to the emulation movement launched by superiors, officers and soldiers of Bac Son Border Guard Station focused on grasping key areas, closely assessing the actual situation, synchronously deploying border management and protection measures; effectively fighting against crimes on the border before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025.

Notably, since the beginning of the year, the unit has organized 2,341 teams/9,243 officers and soldiers to patrol, control and manage, firmly protect territorial sovereignty, border security, and sea areas; prevent illegal immigration, smuggling, and trade fraud. Through patrol and control work, a total of 15 cases/16 subjects have been discovered, arrested, and handled; and 9 cases have been coordinated to be arrested.

Towards traditional day

The country is living in proud days when the glorious history of the Vietnam People's Army reaches the milestone of 80 years, along with the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. In Quang Ninh, the northeasternmost land of the country, activities to celebrate this meaningful event are widely deployed by border guards through a peak emulation period. Thereby, continuing to contribute to building the beautiful image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era.

To effectively carry out the emulation movement, the provincial Border Guard has focused on propaganda, education, and raising awareness for cadres and soldiers; thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing directives and resolutions of superiors, especially Regulation No. 144-QD/TW dated May 9, 2024 of the Politburo on revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members in the new period and well implementing "5 determinations" and "5 proactiveness" under the direction of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Building cadres and soldiers with strong political will and ideology, firmly grasping the situation, plots, and sabotage tricks of hostile forces, having high will and determination, ready to receive and complete well all assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Towards the traditional day, the soldiers wearing green uniforms had many practical activities and tasks, creating a united, joyful and exciting atmosphere throughout the management area. Notable among them were meetings and exchanges between officers and soldiers of the Quang Ninh Border Guard with singers from the Youth Theater and friends from Hanoi. Organizing visual propaganda and propaganda on internal loudspeakers about the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the National Defense Day; offering incense to commemorate heroic martyrs and holding working talks on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army between the Border Guard Command of Quang Ninh province (Vietnam) and the Border Guard of Guangxi region (China). Participating in hundreds of working days to help local people clean the environment, visit and give gifts to families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution; organizing cultural exchanges, football and volleyball competitions with local twinned units...

Colonel Le Xuan Men, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard, said: In recent times, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee and Command have had many solutions to lead and direct agencies and units to organize and implement movements and emulation campaigns, creating a vibrant, widespread, and substantial atmosphere with many practical and effective models and methods. Emulation movements always aim to successfully carry out key political tasks, break through to new and difficult tasks; overcome weaknesses and weak points; promptly encourage, motivate, and motivate collectives and individuals to be determined to successfully carry out assigned tasks. Thereby, arousing confidence, pride, and more clearly defining the honor and responsibility of cadres and soldiers, determined to successfully complete all assigned tasks.

With a methodical, serious and responsible approach, over the past time, the emulation movement has added motivation and created a "springboard" for the Quang Ninh Border Guard to build a strong agency and unit, a team of officers and soldiers with firm political will, high determination, ready to receive and complete all assigned tasks, multiplying the border strength of the people, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty and national security.
