Ba Che medicinal hill chicken is one of the products in the process of registering for intellectual property protection. In order for medicinal hill chicken to have a foothold in the market and develop steadily, in addition to focusing on quality, Ba Che is very interested in building a brand and registering to establish rights for the product. The locality has coordinated with the Center for Research and Development of Agricultural Systems (Institute of Food Crops, Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) to complete the application for certification of the trademark "Ba Che medicinal hill chicken" with the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology). The Department of Science and Technology also actively supports the unit in registering the use of geographical names, confirming the map of the production area and carrying out procedures for registering to establish intellectual property rights for this product.

Along with Ba Che medicinal hill chicken, in 2024, the provincial Department of Science and Technology is also coordinating with localities to build and register product trademark protection with the geographical name of Quang Ninh province for Mong Cai sweet potato and Ha Long shrimp floss products.

In recent times, the province has paid attention to developing intellectual property to turn many specialties into big, prestigious and famous brands inside and outside the province, even in the international market, such as: Ha Long squid rolls, Co To squid, Tien Yen chicken, Van Don sea worms... In 2024, the Vanbest brand of Newstar LLC was registered for international protection. Ms. Cao Hong Van, Chairman of Newstar Company, said: Under the guidance and support of the Department of Science and Technology, we have registered the Vanbest brand for our products and have been granted product certificates in 15 countries. This helps prevent trademark infringement, counterfeiting and imitation of goods that affect the reputation of the brand.

Recognizing the role of intellectual property in socio-economic development, the Department has recently advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Decision No. 3683/QD-UBND, dated October 21, 2021 "Approving the Intellectual Property Development Program in Quang Ninh province until 2030; advising the Provincial People's Council to issue Resolution 313/2020/NQ-HDND "On a number of financial mechanisms to encourage organizations, individuals and enterprises in science and technology activities in Quang Ninh province". Up to now, it has supported 24 products achieving 4-star OCOP and 5 Food Safety Management Systems - ISO 22000 with a total cost of 710 million VND.

Many OCOP products of Quang Ninh have been protected by trademark.

In particular, the Department always accompanies and strengthens activities to support the establishment of intellectual property rights for local products and OCOP products. In particular, it focuses on supporting the establishment of industrial property rights for trademarks, industrial designs, inventions, utility solutions, new plant varieties, collective trademarks, certification trademarks, geographical indications; activities to apply advanced management tools and systems; activities to participate in technology and equipment markets, brand fairs, etc. This is an effective tool to protect brands, increase competitiveness, expand product consumption markets, thereby contributing to more effective implementation of the OCOP program, the new rural construction program is increasingly in-depth, effective and sustainable. Currently, 249/394 OCOP products of the province have registered for protection, reaching 63.2%.

In addition, the Department also coordinates to maintain the operation of the Industrial Property Information and Service Exploitation Station (IPPlatform), to support customers in searching, providing information on connected intellectual property, consulting and supporting the exploitation and development of inventions to serve production development.
