This company is one of the largest security firms in the world, specializing in providing tools to detect and control security incidents. This company said that they recorded many system incidents on Microsoft's Windows operating system.

In Vietnam, AirAsia - a low-cost airline from Malaysia - recently announced that AirAsia's booking and check-in systems are being affected due to a global IT system failure. The airline said it is "actively working to fix the problem" and thanked customers for their understanding.

Similarly, Vietjet Air also advised passengers planning to travel today to proactively monitor information in the "My Flight" section on the website, mobile application and contact the call center if they need support.

"The impact of the Microsoft system error is a situation beyond the capabilities and expectations of the airline and customers. The airline sincerely apologizes and hopes that passengers will sympathize with this special, force majeure situation," the airline's announcement said.

Ms. Quynh Lam, an employee at an airline ticket office in Hanoi, said she had just received information from Vietjet Air that it was having problems that resulted in the system being inaccessible.

"Many customers are still having problems checking in online, paying or issuing tickets," said Lam, adding that she is trying to contact the airline to support customers.

In Malaysia, passengers cannot check in baggage for AirAsia flights at Kota Kinabalu International Airport in Sabah state (Malaysia).

A similar situation occurred at Changi Airport in Singapore, where airlines handed out snacks and bottled water to passengers waiting in long check-in lines.

"We are experiencing issues with our check-in system. We are working to restore the system as quickly as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience," a notice was issued at the airport.

Similarly, at Edinburgh Airport in the UK, passengers are unable to use the automated boarding pass scanners. Screens at the security area also display a message that the server is offline, according to Reuters . As a result, boarding passes are being checked manually by flight attendants.

In Germany, flights at Berlin Brandenburg airport were suspended due to "technical problems".

United Airlines also announced a third-party software issue affecting computer systems globally. The airline added that it was working to restore systems, but in the meantime it would ground all flights at departure airports.

Pete Buttigieg, the US Secretary of Transportation, said the department is monitoring the issues of flight cancellations and delays, adding that the agency will hold the company and all other airlines accountable for meeting passenger needs.

Microsoft said the outage was related to its cloud services. The company said it was also investigating an issue affecting multiple Microsoft 365 apps and services.
