The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a statement recommending that Chinese people get vaccinated, keep their distance from sick people, wash their hands regularly and use masks to reduce the risk of respiratory diseases.
For people with respiratory illnesses, the agency recommends monitoring their health at home and limiting going out to avoid infection.
According to WHO, since mid-October, northern regions of China have recorded an increase in the number of cases of "influenza-like" diseases compared to the same period three years ago.
Earlier, China's National Health Commission (NHC) said that respiratory diseases are on the rise in the country due to the lifting of restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic and the spread of circulating pathogens, including influenza and common childhood infections.
