According to Engadget , WhatsApp users can press and hold a message to keep it in the thread. However, the person who sent the message is notified and ultimately decides whether to allow the message to remain in the conversation. If not, the message will disappear as usual.
A new feature allows users to archive self-deleting messages in WhatsApp.
Additionally, a bookmark icon will appear next to saved messages. Users can access all saved messages in the Kept Messages folder, where they are organized by conversation. WhatsApp says they are gradually rolling out this feature and everyone will have access within the next few weeks.
Based on the description, it might seem that Keep in Chat would render the role of messaging meaningless, but in a company blog post, WhatsApp stated that sometimes users need to save a message (such as a voicemail or someone's address) that includes important details.
