The 650,000 women and children are among 3.6 million people in Ethiopia who will lose access to food aid in the coming weeks without urgent new funding, the WFP warned.
WFP had previously planned to provide essential nutritional support to 2 million mothers and children by 2025.
Like other aid agencies, the WFP has been hit after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order shortly after his inauguration in January freezing all foreign aid for three months.
According to WFP, more than 10 million people are facing hunger in this East African country with a population of about 130 million.
Ethiopia is still recovering from a devastating conflict between federal forces and rebels in the northern Tigray region between November 2020 and November 2022 that killed at least 600,000 people./.
