Thanh Hoa is considered a "miniature Vietnam", possessing all types of terrain, ecosystems and regions of plains, mountains, midlands and coastal areas. In particular, among the 1,535 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots that have been inventoried and protected, there is 1 world cultural heritage; 5 special national relics; 139 national relics and 711 provincial relics... Along with that is a diverse and rich system of intangible cultural heritage, bearing the unique characteristics of 7 ethnic groups. This is an important basis contributing to creating colorful cultural - tourist spaces and unique characteristics for each product and each destination in Thanh land.
Not only that, Thanh Hoa is also a locality with 102km of coastline, with many beautiful beaches, famous nationwide such as: Sam Son; Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa); Hai Hoa, Bai Dong (Nghi Son town)... Along with that is a dense system of caves, grottos, forests, lakes, with beautiful natural landscapes, fresh and cool air. This is the habitat of many endemic and rare species of animals and plants... which are assessed by tourism experts to have great potential to promote the development of eco-tourism and adventure tourism.
With precious "materials", combined with endogenous resources, Thanh Hoa province is the basis for developing "Four Seasons of Fragrance" tourism. Up to now, throughout the four seasons of Spring - Summer - Autumn - Winter, tourists can experience beach resort tourism products, culture - history - spirituality or community ecology. In addition, Thanh Hoa is also one of the provinces that keeps up with the development trend, with a number of new tourism products that have been put into operation, serving tourists such as: agriculture, experiences, events, adventures, shopping... Thanks to that, Thanh Hoa tourism in recent years has always been in the top of the country in attracting visitors.
Clearly identifying the opportunities and challenges when tourism enters a new development stage, Thanh Hoa province has quickly built and announced the brand identity "Thanh Hoa Tourism - Fragrance of Four Seasons" (March 11, 2022). This is an affirmation of the diversity and richness of tourism resources; an invitation and encouragement for tourists from all over the world to experience and explore Thanh Hoa tourism anytime and anywhere. Thereby, not only contributing to identifying and elevating the tourism brand, but the slogan "Fragrance of Four Seasons" is also the development goal of Thanh Hoa tourism in the new period.
...to changes that enhance the destination
With a diverse and rich ecosystem, along with many large-scale tourism projects that have been and are being implemented, Thanh Hoa is gradually becoming a "bright spot" on the national tourism map. According to the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of tourism investment projects in the province to date is 82 projects, with a total registered capital of about 153 trillion VND. Among them, there are large-scale projects, synchronous and high-quality service systems that have been and are being implemented such as: Sea Square Project, Festival Landscape Axis (Sam Son City); Ben En high-class eco-tourism, resort and entertainment urban area (Nhu Thanh); Hot mineral resort urban area in Quang Yen commune (Quang Xuong); Hotel complex, commercial center in Quang Nham commune (Quang Xuong); Flamingo Linh Truong eco-tourism and resort area and Flamingo Linh Truong Project Area B (Hoang Hoa)...
Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions and effective exploitation of existing potentials and advantages, in 2023, the whole province welcomed 12.485 million visitors, exceeding the annual plan by 4%; total tourism revenue reached 24.505 trillion VND. In 2024, Thanh Hoa tourism industry aims to welcome 13.8 million visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching 32.3 trillion VND. However, in just 9 months of 2024, the whole province is estimated to welcome nearly 14.5 million visitors, reaching 104.7% of the plan; total revenue is estimated at nearly 32 trillion VND, up 39.2% over the same period, reaching 98.6% of the annual plan. It shows that a good destination brand not only builds trust among investors and tourists, but is also an important driving force to promote rapid and sustainable tourism growth.
With unique tourism resources, synchronous transport infrastructure, especially many large-scale tourism project complexes of large enterprises and corporations that have been and are investing, tourism experts believe that Thanh Hoa has many favorable conditions to go further, becoming one of the key tourism destinations of the country. However, developing tourism in the new situation, Thanh Hoa province needs to pay attention to investing in developing unique tourism products with high quality and competitiveness. In particular, it is necessary to focus on exploiting cultural values in tourism development to position the destination brand in a sustainable way.
To realize the goal of developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, Thanh Hoa province has been and is continuing to prioritize investment resources to develop synchronous infrastructure and technology, "bait" to attract investors, especially large investors. Regarding propaganda, promotion and tourism promotion, it will be implemented in a focused and key direction, "aiming directly" at target markets. In particular, promoting tourism on media channels, digital platforms and some international media channels such as CNN, BBC... is being actively implemented step by step. In addition, developing tourism with a strong cultural identity and renewing existing tourism products, exploiting new products will be an important direction to contribute to increasing the experience for tourists, and at the same time is a key solution to position the brand "Thanh Hoa Tourism - Four Seasons of Fragrance" on the national tourism map.
