“Previously, Ms. Ho Thi Nga in Khe Da hamlet was a poor household. With the attention of local authorities and women's unions at all levels in providing preferential loans and learning from effective production models, she overcame difficulties to build a comprehensive economic model. Thanks to her hard work and creativity, her family has escaped poverty sustainably, and is a worthy example for ethnic minority women to learn from and follow,” said Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, introducing an outstanding female member in the locality.

In the face of Ms. Nga’s family’s situation, the women’s union at all levels supported her with a loan of 50 million VND from the social policy bank to invest in planting and raising livestock. Realizing that banana and cajuput trees have great potential for development in the locality, the couple bought seeds to plant and care for.
During the process of implementing the model, Ms. Nga diligently studied, learned and applied scientific and technical measures in cultivation and animal husbandry; at the same time, learned from the production experience of predecessors, so her family's crop area developed well, was increasingly expanded, and crop yield increased every year.
Currently, Ms. Nga's family's comprehensive model has 3 hectares of cajuput, 1,000 banana trees, 5 cows, dozens of chickens, after deducting all expenses, her family has an income of more than 100 million VND/year. With a stable income, her family has paid off all bank loans, has the conditions to raise children to study, buy many household items, and their material and spiritual life is increasingly improved.
Realizing that her family's life had improved, in 2020, Nga and her husband asked to leave the poor household status to give the poor household policies to other households in more difficult circumstances. From here, the couple encouraged each other to continue investing in production development so as not to fall back into poverty but to become well-off and rich in the near future. Recently, the couple built a spacious house worth more than 500 million VND. This is the result of many years of hard work that her family has worked hard to achieve.
Not only is she good at business, Ms. Nga also builds a warm family life and takes good care of, raises and educates her children. She herself actively participates in local cultural and sports movements and activities. Therefore, for many years, her family has achieved and maintained the title of a cultural family.
Ms. Nga was recognized by the Women's Union of Lao Bao town as a typical example in economic development and building a happy family. In particular, recently, many households in the area have come to visit and learn about the family's comprehensive economic model. Ms. Nga enthusiastically shared her experience on how to invest in production models as well as techniques for taking care of crops and livestock with everyone.
“In previous years, my family’s economic conditions were very difficult because we did not know how to innovate production methods and change crop structures. Thanks to the help of the local government and the Women’s Union, my family was able to overcome poverty and have the life we have today. Therefore, I always want to share and help people in the same situation as my family has experienced,” said Ms. Nga.
