On the afternoon of August 24, information from the Naval Region 4 Command said that the unit's ship had just towed a fishing boat from Binh Dinh province in distress at sea to shore safely.
Previously, at 12 noon on August 23, when ship 524 was on combat readiness duty, protecting the waters of Cam Ranh military base, it received a notice from superiors to rescue a Binh Dinh fishing boat that had been punctured and was in danger of sinking, located about 2 nautical miles from the ship, east of Mieu Ngoai island (Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa).

The officers and soldiers of ship 524 quickly made ropes and pulled the distressed fishing boat to the North Hon Mieu Ngoai shoal (with the support of 02 Khanh Hoa fishing boats). At the same time, they fixed the problem for the fishing boat. By 3:00 a.m. on August 24, fishing boat BD 95008 TS had been fixed. Ship 524 guided the fishermen to safely leave the restricted waters. Then, a fishing boat from Khanh Hoa supported the towing of boat BD 95008 towards Nha Trang.
