According to Ars Technica expert Ron Amedeo, the OLED display on the device was damaged in an unclear way, suggesting that a small piece of debris likely got into the small “groove” of the inner display between the screen protector and the bezel, then hit the panel when the two halves of the Pixel Fold screen were closed.
Pixel Fold also has screen issues

A Pixel Fold owner on Reddit also reported some small dents in the same area of the display. Meanwhile, another Pixel Fold owner reported some annoying peeling from the screen protector that appeared along with a scratch. The Verge Pixel Fold reviewer himself also noticed a faint scratch on the inner screen protector after just a week of use, which raises some concerns about the product.
On the r/GooglePixel forum, user marcusr_uk reported a bright pink line appearing on the Pixel Fold's inner display after just a few hours of use.
Commenting on reports of the issue, Google spokesperson Alex Moriconi said only: “We encourage anyone experiencing the issue to contact support to investigate.” Additionally, Google plans to allow users to handle DIY screen repairs using a toolkit from iFixit if they are knowledgeable.
The Pixel Fold isn’t the only foldable smartphone to have had durability issues since its launch. Samsung’s foldable smartphone, for example, has seen major improvements in durability over the years, but Galaxy Z Fold owners have reported issues with screen protectors not sticking, screens cracking at the fold, and hinges not working properly.
