On the afternoon of October 8, regarding the poisoning incident after the Mid-Autumn Festival party that occurred at the Palm Heights apartment building (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), authorities said they were waiting for final test results to handle the situation.
On the same day, Givral Cake Joint Stock Company also sent a press release. Ms. Vo Thi Bich Lien, General Director of Givral Cake Joint Stock Company, stated: In recent days, the company has received information about suspected cases of poisoning after the Mid-Autumn Festival at an apartment building in Thu Duc City, related to one of the company's products.
"Whatever the reason for the incident, we sincerely sympathize and take responsibility for the victims of the incident," Ms. Lien informed.
Givral representative said that they will take responsibility for the victims in the incident.
Givral has reviewed and tested the system, and has developed a plan for necessary upgrades and improvements to eliminate similar risks that may occur in the future.
In addition, the company coordinates and supports the authorities to investigate and clarify the cause as well as give an official conclusion on the incident as soon as possible.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board inspected the distribution site of Givral Cake Joint Stock Company (production address Lot II-1B Le Trong Tan, Tan Binh Industrial Park, Tay Thanh Ward, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) at the Givral cake shop (address No. 208, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, Ward 22, Binh Thanh District).
In addition, the Food Safety Management Board also inspected the cream puff production workshop of Givral Cake Joint Stock Company. The Board took many samples for testing and is continuing to coordinate with Thu Duc City Police to verify the incident...
Previously, on the afternoon of September 29, Palm Heights apartment building (Thu Duc City) organized a Mid-Autumn Festival for the children of residents living in the apartment building and children of some employees working in the apartment building. The organizers gave gifts and cakes to the children. Among them were 230 cream puffs purchased from Givral bakery in Binh Thanh district to give to the children.
On September 30, a 6-year-old child showed symptoms of vomiting and died on the way to the emergency room; many children who ate the cake had similar symptoms and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
Immediately after the incident, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document directing the Department of Health, the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board; People's Committees of districts, Thu Duc City... to strengthen measures to promptly prevent food poisoning cases in the city.
