On the afternoon of October 8, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Vice Principal of Nguyen Duc Canh Primary School (Tan Loi Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak) said that the school had more than 1,200 students absent that afternoon after a strange, strong smell like pesticide appeared at the school.
According to Ms. Hien, the teacher who fainted and had to be hospitalized after smelling this strange smell has been discharged and is being monitored at home. Fortunately, after the incident, no students have been affected.

"This morning around 7:30, a strange smell appeared at school until around 8:30, the smell was very strong and unpleasant. Immediately after that, the school immediately asked the teachers to close the classroom and turn on the big fan.
At the same time, the staff checked around the school to see if anyone had spilled pesticides, but they did not find any. Previously, this strange smell appeared occasionally, but only briefly, not as strong as today," Ms. Hien added.
According to Ms. Hien, all boarding lunches at the school have been removed to ensure safety and the school is currently conducting a general cleaning.

"We are closely monitoring. If the smell improves, we will notify students to return to school tomorrow (October 9). If the smell remains strong, the school will consult the City Department of Education and Training for guidance to ensure the health of students, staff and teachers of the school," informed Vice Principal of Nguyen Duc Canh Primary School.
Located near Nguyen Duc Canh Primary School, Tan Loi Kindergarten (Tan Loi Ward) also detected a strange smell like pesticide, causing some teachers in the school to have headaches and the school notified parents to pick up students from noon.
This afternoon, Buon Ma Thuot City Police coordinated with Tan Loi Ward authorities to inspect a number of areas and businesses around schools where strange odors were detected to find out the cause and the area where this strange odor was emitted in order to have a solution.

As Dan Tri reported, on the morning of October 8, at Nguyen Duc Canh Primary School, there was a strong strange smell that caused two teachers to faint and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment and monitoring.
The school has stopped students from eating at the boarding school and reported the incident to superiors for handling.
The strange smell not only appeared at schools but also at the Tan Loi Ward People's Committee headquarters.
