4th floor railing fell into school yard: Female student suffered traumatic brain injury and underwent surgery

On the afternoon of April 14, a source from Tuoi Tre Online from Nghe An General Hospital said that doctors had performed brain injury surgery on VKQ - 15 years old, a student at Vinh University Pedagogical Practice High School.

Q. is one of three female students injured after a railing fell from the 4th floor of Vinh University Pedagogical Practice High School on the morning of April 14.

"The broken skull bone penetrated the brain's blood vessels. Currently, the patient's vital signs are stable. We are continuing to monitor and treat the patient," said the surgeon.

Meanwhile, at Vinh City General Hospital, female student NNHTr. - Q.'s friend is also being treated and cared for by doctors. Due to blood loss, shock and an open wound on the head of about 10cm after the incident, after undergoing surgery, Tr. is conscious but still unable to talk.

According to Tr.'s relatives, at around 9:45 a.m. on April 14, while his parents were at work, they heard that Tr. had an accident at school.

The parents rushed to the hospital and found Tr. being taken to the emergency room with two other classmates. Since the incident, teachers have been by Tr.'s side to support and encourage him to stabilize his health and mental state.

Of the three female victims, after being taken to Vinh City General Hospital, one was slightly injured and discharged. Q., who suffered the most serious injury, was transferred to Nghe An General Hospital for surgery.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , at 3:30 p.m. on April 14, security guards at Vinh University Pedagogical Practice High School were stretching ropes to protect the scene of the accident. The police force has finished examining the scene. The stainless steel railing that fell from the 4th floor is still there.

The distance this railing fell from the 4th floor to the ground was about 15m.

There are security cameras along the corridors of each floor. The police also collected security cameras to investigate the accident.

It is expected that this afternoon, a working group from Nghe An Department of Construction will arrive at the site to inspect safety and construction techniques.

The Board of Directors of Vinh University Pedagogical Practice High School and Vinh University - the school's management unit - have not yet reported on the incident.

All students of Vinh University Pedagogical Practice High School are off school on the afternoon of April 14. The school gates are sealed.
