The film tells the troubled love story between Jenny - an overseas Vietnamese passionate about researching traditional costumes - and Dung - the son of an ancient costume embroiderer.
When Jenny returned to Vietnam, they met and fell in love. However, tragedy struck when Dung's mother discovered that Jenny's father was the one who indirectly caused her mother's death during the war. The painful past caused the young couple's love to break up in torment and tears. Will they be able to overcome the painful memories to move forward to a new beginning?

Director Dang Thu Trang shared: “Before, I never thought of making a film with the People's Army Cinema because this topic is not my strength. But when I read the script by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thu Dung, I was really attracted. The post-war story is not only about pain but also has a strong cultural meaning, carrying a very strong message of altruism.”
Set in the traditional embroidery village of Dong Cuu ( Hanoi ) and several historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City such as Independence Palace, Ben Thanh market... the film vividly recreates the national cultural space, intertwining the present and memories.

According to female director Dang Thu Trang, the biggest pressure when making a film about history and post-war, while incorporating cultural elements, is how to subtly and skillfully express and honor traditional values without becoming dry or monotonous.
She shared: "Fortunately, the cultural elements I wanted to convey, along with the film's profound humanistic message, were kept intact. It was the support from the People's Army Cinema that helped the film crew complete the work in both meaning and artistic depth, bringing a film rich in cultural value and the spirit of reconciliation."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thu Dung, Director of the People's Army Cinema and also the film's screenwriter, expressed her hope that Vu Khuc Mua Xuan will receive attention and acceptance from the audience, and at the same time attract more attention to works with the same post-war theme produced by the Army Cinema in the near future.
Spring Rain Dance is not only a touching love story but also a symphony of memory, culture and forgiveness. This is a contribution of Army Cinema in telling the post-war story with humanistic and artistic language.
