Therefore, to perform the acting part for the MV "Forgotten Promises ", Vu had to spend a long time looking at himself in the mirror, practicing acting to complete these difficult scenes.
Vu. shared that this was the first time he had to put in a lot of effort in acting in a scene.
Vu. joked: "This is the MV in which I have 'acted' the most so far. I don't know why I'm so shy when I'm in front of the camera, so I rarely appear in MVs. With most of my MVs, if I don't stand still like a power pole, I sit still, at most I appear as a cameo. This is the first time I've really had to 'act' so I'm very worried. But anyway, I want to bring something new to my audience, so I tried to practice in front of the mirror."
But in fact, Vu still couldn't hide his awkwardness in the MV "Forgotten Promises ", his appearance was not much. The MV was made entirely in Hong Kong, with the story inspired by the famous romantic movie "You are the apple of my eye".
Vu. with Dear Jane behind the scenes of the MV
In the MV, Vu. plays a young man reminiscing about his youth with two old friends, one is his lover and the other is his best friend. Vu.'s appearance is also quite short, leaving the stage for the trio of Hong Kong actors (Vanora, Joseph and Martin) to perform.
However, the highlight is at the end of the MV. After the flashback, Vu. of the present wishes he could hug his ex-lover and wipe her tears so that everything wouldn't fall apart the way it did. Vu acted this part quite well, the director also chose a good angle when filming from his back, creating emotions for the audience with the music playing while also hiding his shy expression. Just that much is probably enough to make Vu.'s fans satisfied with this moment.
Vu. said, besides acting, this MV and song are both very special to him. Because, this is the first project that Vu. has collaborated and met directly with international artists. Before that, because of the pandemic, he only worked online with Danish artist - Lukas Graham in Happy for you . Through his record label, the famous Hong Kong band - Dear Jane sent him a song composed by themselves. Vu. communicated with them via email to change and edit a few parts of the music, then he wrote the lyrics, translated it into English so they could understand the content and approve, then he flew to Hong Kong to record live with the band, they were also the artists who performed the musical part in the recording of the song.
The poetic footage in the MV "Forgotten Promises" was filmed and produced entirely in Hong Kong, marking the reunion of Vu and the production crew of "Passing Through Each Other" .
Although quite busy with a tight schedule, Dear Jane also appeared for a few seconds in Vu's MV, filming with him in Hong Kong, something they have never done with other artists. This made him very grateful. Vu hopes to have the opportunity to perform in Dear Jane's show as well as invite them to participate in his live performances. He said: "Dear Jane used to have concerts with 50,000 audiences. I really admire them for this and hope that one day I can do that, not just ten thousand audiences" (relative statistics on the number of viewers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City who came to Vu's live show Ten Thousand Years last year - PV ).
Vu. is also one of the very few Vietnamese artists who release music according to international standards, releasing singles and MVs to introduce the official album. Forgotten promises is the single that opens the way for Vu's 3rd album. He "revealed" that perhaps this new album will be something different from the "impulsive youth" of Parallel Universe and of course more mature than Ten Thousand Years . In addition to the album, Vu. will also have a long-term project in 2024.
