Fire at Ba Vi National Park damaged nearly 3,500 square meters of forest

On April 21, information from Ba Vi National Park said that the forest fire on the evening of April 19 occurred at coordinates X534,665; y 2,329,298 in lot 225, 226, compartment 1, sub-area 7, ecological restoration subdivision of Ba Vi National Park, altitude 250-300m in the administrative boundary of Minh Quang commune.

After the forest fire was extinguished, the rangers counted the area caused by the fire as 0.348ha of forest (about 3,480m2); of which planted forest was about 980m2, regenerated forest was 2,500m2. The main damage was to re grass, bubble grass, reed grass and some types of trees regenerated after slash-and-burn farming; large trees only had their leaves cut off, so the ability of trees to recover after the fire was about 30-50%.

According to the initial investigation by the authorities, the cause of the forest fire at Ba Vi National Park was caused by humans. The Ba Vi National Park rangers are continuing to coordinate with the City Police to verify and clarify the person who caused the fire to strictly handle it according to the provisions of the law.

Previously, as reported by Hanoi Moi Newspaper, at around 9pm on April 19, a forest fire broke out at Ba Vi National Park. The Park’s rangers, Forest Ranger Division No. 6 ( Hanoi Forest Ranger Department) quickly arrived at the scene to handle the fire.
