On November 7th, Mr. Le Minh Hien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dam Doi district ( Ca Mau province), stated that the district had submitted a preliminary report on the case of a 4-year-old girl allegedly abused by her foster father in Tan Trung commune.
Verification revealed that Mr. TMĐ (55 years old) has been living as husband and wife with Ms. LTH (52 years old) in Phu Quoc City ( Kien Giang province) since 2010. In 2022, Mr. and Mrs. Đ. adopted TNT (now about 4 years old) from another person in Phu Quoc.

In mid-October, Mr. and Mrs. D. brought baby T. back to Mr. D.'s hometown in Tan Trung commune to live.
Mr. D. confessed that since taking T. in, he had beaten the child many times with a tree branch to discipline her.
At around 10:00 AM on November 5th, Mr. D. was driving Ms. H. home from a doctor's appointment when he saw that T. had knocked over household items. He then took a broom with a plastic handle and hit T. multiple times, causing injuries.
When authorities discovered the incident, T. had scratches on both eyes, bleeding lips, swelling on the forehead and hands, and bruises on the chest and back, etc.
Working with the authorities, Mr. D. admitted that his act of hitting his child with a broom was wrong.
The People's Committee of Tan Trung commune stated that the police are continuing to work with those involved to clarify Mr. D.'s actions, and will then take appropriate action according to regulations.
