On August 14, according to information from the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone (Nghe An), the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team concluded on compliance with the law on occupational diseases, working environment, monitoring of working environment, implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies for employees at Chau Tien Company Limited.
This is an inspection team established by the People's Committee of Nghe An province after receiving information about 3 deaths of workers at this company and 5 people being treated for silicosis.

Through inspection, the interdisciplinary team recorded 5 more workers here suffering from lung-related diseases, in addition to the 3 deaths and 5 cases under treatment previously reported.
Chau Tien Company Limited (Nam Cam Industrial Park, located in Nghi Loc District, Nghe An) has 34 employees, including 28 direct employees. However, the company has not yet established a grassroots trade union.
The company’s workshops have a lot of dust on the floors and machine surfaces. The company provides personal protective equipment to workers, but it is not appropriate for the industry as prescribed. In fact, during the production process, workers only wear many layers of cloth masks, which is not in accordance with regulations.

The inspection results showed that from 2017 to 2022, the company did not fully comply with regulations on monitoring the working environment to control harmful agents to workers' health.
Enterprises also do not fully conduct periodic health check-ups for employees and occupational disease screening for employees exposed to harmful factors that pose a risk of occupational diseases or doing arduous, toxic, dangerous, and especially arduous, toxic, and dangerous jobs.
Chau Tien Company Limited did not prepare mandatory social insurance records for employees within the time limit; did not pay insurance for employees according to the time of signing the labor contract; paid social insurance less than the prescribed time for 10 employees.
Late payment or incorrect payment has affected the rights in resolving insurance policies for employees.
The interdisciplinary inspection team also pointed out many shortcomings of Chau Tien Company Limited regarding compliance with environmental laws.
In October 2016, the company expanded its investment, adding a quartz powder processing product line, and was granted the fourth investment certificate change, but at the time of inspection, it had not yet prepared a report to propose granting an environmental license to submit to the competent authority for appraisal and licensing.

At this company, the collection and storage of hazardous waste is not in accordance with regulations; hazardous waste is mixed with regular waste; hazardous waste is not collected thoroughly; and the hazardous waste storage is not in accordance with regulations.
This company has many violations in the management and preservation of chemicals and raw materials for production, transportation, collection and treatment of industrial waste as well as collection of acid and dust during the production process, affecting the health of workers.
The report also pointed out that in the grinding area, a lot of fine silica dust is emitted, affecting the working environment and health of workers.
After the inspection, the delegation drew up a record of administrative violations and recommended that the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee impose sanctions according to his authority on Chau Tien Company Limited in the field of labor, including: not conducting labor environment monitoring to control harmful effects on workers' health; not organizing examinations to detect occupational diseases for workers doing heavy, toxic, dangerous and especially heavy, toxic, dangerous work.
Chau Tien Company Limited was established in 2005, licensed to produce stone powder with a scale of 40,000 tons/year and produce wall putty powder with a scale of 30,000 tons/year. Then the company expanded production, processing superfine white limestone powder with a scale of 180,000 tons/year and processing quartz powder with a scale of 150,000 tons/year.
The company uses silica pebbles to produce white silica powder as raw material for stone pressing plants and steel mill floor lining stones.
