Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang spoke at the seminar.
As of December 31, 2024, Dien Bien province has over 9,007 people with disabilities, of which 6,144 people have severe disabilities, 2,135 people have special disabilities, 728 people have mild disabilities; nearly 5,700 orphans in difficult circumstances and more than 63,400 children at risk of falling into special circumstances. Policies and activities to support people with disabilities have also fundamentally changed, shifting from humanitarian and charitable assistance to assistance from a development perspective, creating motivation for people with disabilities to rise up. In 2024, 8,279 people with disabilities will receive monthly social allowances, with a total cost of more than 85 billion VND; 100% of people with disabilities will be granted free health insurance cards; regular allowances, visits, gifts, vocational training, economic development support for households with people with disabilities, etc.
Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Provincial Association for the Support of Disabled Persons and Protection of Children's Rights; commended the contributions of all levels, sectors and enterprises in assisting disabled persons; and the efforts of disabled persons to overcome difficulties in the province. He also believed that with the consensus of all levels, sectors and the community, the support of organizations and enterprises, the activities to assist disabled persons will be carried out effectively, promptly and appropriately. From there, disabled persons will have more confidence and motivation to improve their lives, integrate into the community, confidently participate equally in activities and affirm the role of disabled persons in social life.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Association for the Support of Disabled and Orphans awarded a grant worth 120 million VND to support the livelihoods of disabled youth in Dien Bien province; the Provincial Association for the Support of Disabled and Protection of Children's Rights awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 individuals who are outstanding sponsors and disabled people; awarded Certificates of Merit to 19 individuals and 10 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing the QR code scanning campaign to support disabled people and orphans.
The welcome performance was performed by the Disabled Arts Club and association officials.
Sponsor representative presented support to the Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled Persons and Protection of Children's Rights.
Provincial Youth Union leaders received the symbol of livelihood support for disabled youth in Dien Bien province.
Outstanding disabled people received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial Association.
The Association for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities presented 32 gifts to outstanding persons with disabilities who have overcome difficulties to improve their lives.
