Dienbien.gov.vn - On the morning of April 19, at the Provincial Conference and Cultural Center, the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province held a meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Attending the meeting were comrades: Tran Quoc Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lo Van Phuong, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Lo Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders and former leaders of the province through the periods; representatives of provincial departments and branches and nearly 260 delegates who are war veterans, former people's police officers, former youth volunteers who directly participated in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

At the meeting, the delegates reviewed the tradition and historical significance of the Great Spring Victory of 1975. Exactly half a century ago, on April 30, 1975, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , with a resilient, brave fighting spirit and passionate patriotism, our army and people achieved the historic Great Spring Victory, ending the arduous but extremely glorious resistance war against the US to save the country, unifying the country, bringing the Vietnamese mountains and rivers back together. During those heroic years, thousands of Dien Bien youth volunteered to join the army, participate in combat, serve in combat, many of them heroically fell, sacrificed, leaving their blood and bones on all battlefields in the South to contribute to the Great Spring Victory of 1975. The country was at peace, Dien Bien received and cared for thousands of wounded and sick soldiers returning from the battlefield. The soldiers and youth volunteers of the past have now returned to civilian life. They have become good cadres and exemplary citizens, wholeheartedly contributing to the construction of their homeland and country. Now they are all old, but they are still shining examples for their children and grandchildren to follow.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong affirmed that the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province have achieved are partly due to the efforts and contributions of war veterans and youth volunteers; contributing to the great achievements of the renovation process, bringing our country to a new height, with new position and strength, proactively and actively integrating and cooperating internationally. At the same time, the Provincial Party Committee Secretary requested that Party committees, authorities at all levels and sectors in the whole province continue to perform well a number of key tasks: further promoting propaganda work on the great sacrifices and contributions of those who have contributed to the revolution, thereby arousing patriotism, strongly promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source", "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree", the spirit of great national unity. Proactively and fully implement preferential policies for people with meritorious services, constantly improving the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services and their families with meritorious services to the revolution. Pay more attention to meritorious people in difficult circumstances, living alone, without support, families of meritorious people in remote areas, ethnic minorities. Continue to review and study practical support mechanisms, create favorable conditions, promote the role of meritorious people, war invalids, sick soldiers and families with meritorious services to the revolution, especially in production and business, household economy , collective economy. Focus on building, renovating and taking care of martyrs' cemeteries to ensure they are spacious, clean and beautiful, showing sacredness and respect, so that this place becomes a "red address" to educate future generations about the nation's heroic historical and revolutionary traditions.

The Provincial Party Secretary hopes that in the coming time, veterans, former people's police officers, and former youth volunteers will continue to promote the qualities and traditions of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" and take the lead in maintaining political security and social order and safety at the grassroots level; act as the core in building the great national unity bloc, building cultural life in residential areas; and be a tall and shady tree, a source of pride and support for local Party committees and authorities.
