Policy capital creates momentum for Mai Chau youth to start businesses

Some young households in Cha Day hamlet, Pa Co commune (Mai Chau) have developed a tomato growing model, bringing in a good income.

Based on the joint documents and instructions of the province, the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union has issued a plan, directed the Youth Unions of communes and towns to actively participate in the management, supervision and organization of the activities of the savings and credit groups (S&L). Regularly urge and remind households with outstanding debts due and overdue to pay principal and interest on time. Thereby promptly grasping the basis and situation of the S&L Group's operations, the use of capital by members, detecting and preventing problems and errors in the operations of the S&L Group, and the process of using capital by borrowers.

By the end of February 2025, the whole district had 16/16 communes and towns participating in receiving loan capital entrustment with 52 savings and credit groups in operation. The total number of borrowers was 1,954 households, with a total outstanding debt of over 112.4 billion VND. The capital source mainly focused on lending programs for poor households, near-poor households, job creation, students in difficult circumstances, clean water - environmental sanitation, economic development in difficult areas, ethnic minority households with special difficulties, afforestation, production - business development...

Policy loans have been and are showing clear effectiveness in practice. Many young people have the opportunity to start their own businesses right in their localities. Through this, the work of gathering and uniting young people has been strengthened. The prestige of the Youth Union has been increasingly enhanced in the hearts of the people, creating motivation for grassroots Youth Union officials to promote their roles and responsibilities to the community.

The family of Mr. Ha Van Hoa, Dau hamlet, Tong Dau commune is a typical example. As a near-poor household, his family could not invest in expanding production due to lack of capital. Through the connection of the commune's Youth Union, his family was able to borrow VND45 million from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to build a barn and buy 2 breeding cows. According to Mr. Hoa, along with capital support, local experts actively trained and instructed the family on animal care techniques. Thanks to that, the cows reproduced regularly, were not affected by diseases, and gradually improved the family's economy.

Like Mr. Hoa, from preferential loans, many young people in Mai Chau district have more motivation, dare to think, dare to do, boldly invest in production - business services, creating effective economic development models, solving jobs for local youth workers such as: Smoked meat production model in Mai Hich commune; chili pepper growing model in Mai Ha commune; aquaculture and processing facility project in Tan Thanh commune; homestay models in Chieng Chau and Mai Hich communes...

Comrade Ha Cong Dat, Secretary of Mai Chau District Youth Union, said: Promoting the effectiveness of policy loans is one of the important solutions to help Mai Chau district youth have more conditions for comprehensive development, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the locality. However, besides the achieved results, capital management in some units still has some limitations. In order to overcome the shortcomings, create conditions for Mai Chau youth to have the opportunity to start a business and get rich with preferential capital, the District Youth Union continues to promote the propaganda of the Party and State's policies and guidelines on social policy credit; strengthen coordination in organizing activities of consulting, career and employment support, and training and technology transfer to help young people boldly develop the economy. At the same time, pay attention to inspecting, supervising, closely following the plan of the district's Social Policy Bank and the Youth Union's work program in 2025 to promptly urge, guide and handle problems arising during the implementation process.
