* Female boxer Vo Thi Phuong Quynh brought home the 13th bronze medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at this tournament. Phuong Quynh lost to the 2022 world champion of Iran, Zahra Bagheri (Iran), with a score of 0-3 in the semi-final match.

However, because the kurash event did not have a third-place match, the Vietnamese female boxer shared the bronze medal with boxer Melika Vandchaly (Iran) - who lost in the second semi-final against host Liu Yi.

In the final, boxer Liu Yi defeated Zahra Bagheri with a score of 3-0 and won the gold medal.

It can be said that winning the bronze medal is an impressive achievement for Vo Thi Phuong Quynh. She is a Judo athlete and has only switched to practicing kurash for 4 months, since June this year. In fact, this is the first time Phuong Quynh has competed in an international kurash tournament.

With this result, Phuong Quynh helped the kurash team complete the goal of winning a bronze medal at the 19th ASIAD.

In an interview with the press after the match, the 25-year-old female player expressed regret at not being able to make it to the final. However, she still expressed pride in winning the bronze medal in the first time she was sent by the coaching staff of the Vietnamese kurash team to attend the ASIAD.

* On the same afternoon, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team won 21-11, 21-18 against Japan after 42 minutes of competition in Group A, 4-player event. This victory helped the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw athletes to secure a place in the semi-finals one round early.

Group A has 4 teams, in which Vietnam and Indonesia both beat Myanmar and Japan in the first 2 matches, so they have secured early semi-final spots. In the final round, Vietnam will meet Indonesia at 9am on October 3.

The women's 4-a-side sepak takraw event is considered Vietnam's golden hope at this year's ASIAD, as the team just won the 2022 world championship in a match against Thailand. Thailand did not participate in this event at the 19th ASIAD to focus on events with a higher chance of winning a gold medal.

* Earlier, on the morning of October 2, the Vietnamese archery team had a good day of competition. In the women's team single-reed bow event, Do Thi Anh Nguyet, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi and Hoang Phuong Thao excellently defeated the North Korean archers with a score of 6-2 to enter the quarter-finals.

In the mixed doubles 3-string bow event, the duo Nguyen Thi Hai Chau-Duong Duy Bao also competed impressively to defeat the athletes from Bangladesh with a close score of 154-153, thereby winning a ticket to the quarterfinals.

In the mixed doubles bow event, the Do Thi Anh Nguyet-Nguyen Duy pair defeated their two Uzbekistan opponents 6-2, earning the right to enter the quarterfinals. Only the men's triple bow event missed out on a ticket to the quarterfinals when they lost to the Kazakhstan archers 231-233 in the round of 16.
