After the high school graduation exams ended, Mr. Hung was troubled to see on social media that some individuals were using the Literature exam question, which included material from the work "The Picked-Up Wife," as an excuse, claiming that the work was no longer relevant; they were also calling for the removal of a portion of resistance literature from the high school curriculum. What worried the retired teacher even more was that these individuals were using deceptive arguments to incite young people to deny historical values.
When Mr. Hung shared his concerns during a morning tea with some retired friends, everyone expressed the same frustration. Mr. Khang then spoke up:
- I cannot accept the way some people think when they suggest that the Literature curriculum in high schools should be revised to remove works of resistance literature and add more new, modern literature. They even share and promote this online. I wonder if these people understand that literature is a continuous stream from history to the present. While it's necessary to continuously incorporate valuable new works into the high school curriculum, without a glorious past, history, and tradition, how could we have the literature we have today?
Mr. Thanh continued:
- Actually, I think these people have malicious intentions, gentlemen. It's not simply aimed at literature; they have a deeper conspiracy to deny a part of history, so that the younger generation will gradually lose sight of the heroic years of the nation's resistance, and the sacrifices made by our ancestors.

"Mr. Thanh is right! My biggest concern is that this information has been shared by some young people. With their immature thinking and unstable stance, these young people are very easily exploited by those with malicious political intentions, manipulated to achieve their goals of sabotage, luring them away from national cultural values, chasing after imported culture and a pragmatic lifestyle, turning their backs on history, forgetting the contributions of their ancestors, and living ungratefully," Mr. Hung continued, expressing his worries.
Mr. Khang was enthusiastic:
- It's clear now, those with malicious intentions are using the fact that the exam was completely normal to distort the truth and openly oppose it; this is no longer a trivial matter. So, what should we do, gentlemen? Surely, we older generation can't just let these bad guys manipulate our children and grandchildren?
The three retired friends immediately agreed that each would write some propaganda posts on their personal Facebook and blogs to help people understand the rhetoric of disgruntled and subversive elements. Meanwhile, Mr. Khang, a former literature teacher and contributor to several newspapers, would write articles to counter the subversive rhetoric of hostile forces.
