The work "The Beggar's Wife" by writer Kim Lan was chosen as the text for the Literature exam of the 2023 high school graduation exam held this morning (June 28).

This morning, more than 1 million candidates completed the first exam subject, Literature. This is also the only subject in the high school graduation exam that uses an essay format, lasting 120 minutes.
The high school graduation exam took place on June 28-29 with more than 1 million candidates. Of these, more than 943,300 candidates used the results to both consider graduation recognition and apply to universities and colleges.
Over the past two years, among approximately 980,000 candidates taking the Literature graduation exam nationwide, the average score was 6.5. Score 7 was the most achieved score. The number of candidates scoring below average in Literature fluctuated between 11-12% of the total number of candidates taking the exam.
After the Literature exam, this afternoon, candidates will continue with the Math exam for 90 minutes. Tomorrow (June 29), candidates will take the Foreign Language exam in the morning and one of the two combined exams of Natural Science or Social Science in the afternoon.
