The house of Mr. La Thanh Tuc and his wife in Nam Son village, Mon Son commune (Con Cuong) is only a few hundred meters from the foot of the Giang river bridge. The couple regularly maintains a flock of more than 500 ducks, but when they enter the house and the duck farm, the garden and coop are clean. Duck eggs are piled up everywhere, a product that Mrs. La Thi Hoa, Mr. Tuc's wife, calls the family's "white gold". Because thanks to this product, her family has an additional 20-25 million VND/month.

Mrs. Hoa just said that 500 ducks lay an average of 300 - 350 eggs per day. Most of the eggs are bought by traders at home, some are "ordered" by local people, so they sell them all as they are picked up. The average selling price is 3,000 VND/egg. After deducting expenses, she and her husband earn at least 20-25 million VND per month.

For decades, Mr. La Thanh Tuc and his wife have been farming and raising livestock and poultry. Living in the rural life of the highlands, Mr. Tuc's family is almost self-sufficient in all living expenses, rarely shopping outside. It is worth mentioning that by taking advantage of natural food sources, costs are reduced and the quality of livestock products is increased.

The model of raising ducks on the river has been maintained by the couple for more than 2 years now, rotating a flock of 500 - 600 ducks. The number of ducks is quite large, but thanks to the grazing environment of the Giang River flowing through the area, the water level is quite stable all year round, so the grazing is favorable.

Mr. Tuc said that except for the flood season from August to November every year when grazing on the river is limited, the ducks can find their own food thanks to natural shrimp, fish, crabs, snails and wild grasses along the river, so the family can save a large amount of money on animal feed.

On rainy days, if you don't let the ducks out to the river, add corn bran and green vegetables grown in your garden such as banana tree trunks, vegetables, and grass. After each breeding cycle, 500 ducks lay eggs and after 3-4 months of harvesting eggs, they are sold for meat at an average price of 150,000 VND/duck, with about 100-150 ducks "liquidated" each batch.

Speaking more about the economic efficiency of raising ducks on the river by Mr. Tuc's family and local people, Mr. Ngan Van Thanh, an official of the Farmers' Association of Mon Son commune, said that thanks to raising livestock in a clean and green direction with natural food, the quality of local livestock products is very popular in the market. Currently, livestock and crop farming are still the main economic sectors of Mon Son.

Of which, the poultry herd is currently maintaining more than 64,000 heads, more than 6,000 buffaloes and cows, and a herd of over 7,000 pigs... In addition to helping maintain income for the people, the livestock industry in Mon Son is a source of clean, quality food for tourism services and festivals, which are also seeing many improvements here.
