VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2023 awards over 1 billion VND in prizes

The Organizing Committee announced and awarded 94 prizes, totaling more than one billion VND, to athletes with high results at the VM Hanoi Midnight 2023 Ioniq5 Cup on the morning of November 26.

The award ceremony took place at 10am, after 11,000 runners had completed the race. In addition to the familiar names, this year’s Hanoi Night Run saw the achievements of several foreign runners and featured a top 3 teammate.

VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight Ioniq 5 Cup does not separate professional and amateur teams. Instead, the top 5 athletes with the best results will receive the final prize including cash, Garmin watches and Nike vouchers. The cash amount has increased compared to last year.

The champion athlete received a prize worth 45 million VND, including 25 million VND in cash. The runner-up was awarded 39.2 million VND (20 million VND in cash). The third, fourth and fifth place athletes received 23.7 million VND (15 million VND in cash), 20.2 million VND (12 million VND in cash) and 17.7 million VND (10 million VND in cash) respectively.

The 21km race was eventually divided into three categories. The male and female champions received VND21.2 million. The runners who finished second and third received prizes worth VND18.2 million and VND10.5 million respectively. The prizes also included cash, Garmin watches and Nike vouchers.

The 10km distance has three prizes of 7 million VND, 5 million VND and 4 million VND. The 5km distance is structured up to the top 3, the prize is 6 million VND, 4 million VND and 3 million VND.

In terms of age, the full marathon distance continues to be divided into the top 5 for the under 30 age group, the 31 to 39 age group and the 40 to 49 age group. Athletes in these age groups receive prizes of equal value, including cash and Nike vouchers. The total prize for the first male and female athletes in their age groups is 11.5 million VND, second place is 10 million VND, third place is 8.5 million VND, fourth place is 7.5 million VND and fifth place is 7 million VND.

For the age group 50 to 59 and the group over 60, the prize structure is up to the top 3. The first, second and third places will receive prizes worth 7 million VND, 5.5 million VND and 4.5 million VND respectively.

The 21km distance is divided into three age groups. The under 30, 31 to 39, and 40 to 49 age groups will receive prizes of VND9.5 million, VND8 million, and VND6.5 million, respectively. The top three positions in the 50 to 59 age group and the over 60 age group will receive VND6 million, VND4.5 million, and VND3 million, respectively.

The team prize structure is divided among the top 10. The champion team receives a total prize of 40 million VND, including 25 million VND in cash and a Nike voucher worth 15 million VND. The second prize is worth 32 million VND, the third prize is 26 million VND. In addition, the top 10 teams with the best results will be supported by the organizers with training costs of 3 million VND for each group, after the end of the event.

The number of teams registered for the team race this year reached 52, nearly double that of last year. Many teams have strengthened their forces and recruited talents throughout the year with the ambition of winning the championship. Clubs are allowed to register cheerleading squads to operate at stations along the race track to increase excitement and team spirit.

The ranking on the Hanoi night race leaderboard partly reflects their strength and position in the Vietnamese amateur running community.
