VN-Index increased by nearly 10 points thanks to large-cap stocks, surpassing 1,280 points
Cash flow focused on large-cap stocks such as MWG, HPG, VPB, MSN, helping the index representing the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange increase by nearly 10 points, thereby extending the second session's increase and surpassing the 1,280 point mark.
Before entering today's trading session, some experts said that the market tends to continue to maintain a balance in the buffer zone and gradually form an upward trend. Investors should continue to observe and wait for clearer confirmation signals about the trend.
Today's trading session has partly proven these predictions when the VN-Index opened with a relatively positive performance with green covering the market. After the lunch break, investors began to disburse into large-cap stocks, thanks to which the index representing the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange consolidated its upward momentum. The index closed at 1,281.85 points, up 9.87 points (equivalent to 0.78%) compared to the reference.
The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange had 255 stocks closing in the green, 114 stocks below the reference. The main driving force in today's session mainly came from large-cap stocks. This was shown by the fact that the index representing the VN30 basket increased by nearly 13 points compared to the reference. The top 10 stocks on the list of stocks that positively impacted the market all belonged to this group.

Specifically, VHM became the main driving force in today's session when it increased by 2.16% to VND42,500. Next, HPG increased by 2.04% to VND27,500, ACB increased by 2.94% to VND26,250, BID increased by 1.12% to VND49,450, VIC increased by 1.71% to VND41,600, MSN increased by 2.39% to VND77,000. The remaining large-cap stocks on the above list are GVR, FPT, MBB and CTG.
The seaport group also contributed significantly to today's increase. Specifically, HAH increased by 1.6% to VND42,100, DVP increased by 0.8% to VND75,700, GMD and PVT both increased by 0.3%, to VND75,500 and VND29,300, respectively.
Fertilizer group recorded exciting trading when most closed above reference. Of which, BFC increased by 2.1% to VND41,050, DCM increased by 1.9% to VND38,250, DPM increased by 1.4% to VND35,300 and DGC increased by 1% to VND115,000.
On the other hand, VCB faced strong profit-taking pressure, causing its market price to fall 0.55% to VND91,000 and taking 0.67 points off the VN-Index. HDB was also a rare representative of the banking group that reversed the market trend when it fell 0.74% to VND27,000. The pillar stock of the food group, VNM, was also under selling pressure, causing its market price to fall 0.59% to VND67,800.
Market liquidity today reached VND17,085 billion, up VND1,356 billion compared to the previous session. In contrast, trading volume decreased slightly by 2 million units, reaching 677 million shares. The VN30 basket contributed a trading volume of more than 328 million shares and a matching value of more than VND10,382 billion.
MWG led in terms of turnover value with nearly VND1,339 billion (equivalent to 20.8 million shares). The following codes were HPG with more than VND1,137 billion (equivalent to 41.6 million shares), VPB with about VND1,000 billion (equivalent to 49.6 million shares) and MSN with approximately VND639 billion (equivalent to 8.3 million shares).
Foreign investors continued to extend their net selling streak to the fourth consecutive session. This group sold 70.4 million shares, equivalent to a transaction value of nearly VND2,323 billion, while only disbursing more than VND2,276 billion to buy more than 66.3 million shares. The net selling value accordingly reached about VND46.8 billion.
Foreign investors focused on selling VPB with a net value of approximately VND284 billion, followed by MWG with more than VND152 billion, HDB with VND101 billion and CTG with VND63.9 billion. In contrast, foreign cash flow focused on HPG shares with a net value of VND237 billion. TCB ranked next with a net absorption of more than VND196 billion, followed by FPT with more than VND72 billion.
