At the end of the trading day, the VN-Index stood at 1,197 points, down 9.94 points (0.82%). The entire HoSE floor had 400 stocks down and 132 stocks up.
It is worth noting that the VN-Index had a rare performance. In the morning session and early afternoon, the index suddenly plummeted, losing 69 points and bottoming out at 1,137 points. The market was covered in red as 500 stocks fell in price, of which nearly 100 stocks lost all their amplitude. On the other hand, the number of stocks that increased was less than 40.
Investors dumped large-cap stocks, causing the entire VN30 basket to fall sharply. A series of pillar stocks in this group such as STB, LPB, VPB... were in a state of excitement, then reversed to below the reference price, then lost all amplitude. SSI, MSN, PLX... also hit the floor price at times and no buyers appeared.
However, the sudden drop also stimulated the outside money to pour into the market. In just 10 minutes, many stocks escaped the floor price, and the VN-Index also narrowed the decrease range. At 13:40, the index traded around 1,150 points, down 53 points.

The stock market experienced a special session. (Screenshot).
Towards the end of the session, the "bottom-fishing" demand became stronger, starting with VHM shares, followed by SHB, HPG, STB... and some other bluechips. At the end of the session, VN-Index recovered about 60 points compared to the bottom in the early afternoon.
The large-cap basket recovered quickly with 10 stocks returning to green. Of these, VHM was the most excited when it jumped 4.5% to VND57,500 and MSN also turned around from the floor price and increased 1% to VND58,700.
Market liquidity skyrocketed to VND34,100 billion, the highest in the past 3 weeks. The volume traded today doubled yesterday, reaching 1.7 billion shares.
SHB shares set a liquidity record with 222.7 million matched units, worth VND2,831 billion. HoSE recorded a total liquidity of 1.7 billion shares, worth VND34,119 billion.
Regarding the performance of industry groups, most of them decreased such as banking (-0.29%), securities (-2.2%), real estate (-1.09%), technology (-1.23%)...
Against the trend, the transportation group increased by 1.23%, retail increased by 0.47%, mainly due to the impact of some large-cap stocks such as ACV (+2.85%), HVN (+4.59%), MWG (+3.06%), FRT (+5.83%)...
Notably, foreign investors net sold 523 billion VND in the morning session, but surprisingly ended the session with a net purchase of 521 billion VND. Thus, taking advantage of the market's sharp decline in the afternoon, this group "threw" more than 1,000 billion VND to catch the bottom. The stocks that foreign investors bought heavily were HPG, MWG, and STB.
