Over the years, the tourism industry has always received close attention and direction from the Party and the State. The policies and guidelines issued have created conditions for the entire industry to gradually recover and develop. In particular, Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024 of the Prime Minister on "comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development in the coming time" has been strongly implemented and achieved many impressive results.
"The efforts of tourism businesses in overcoming difficulties, developing workforce, expanding markets, building new products, and promoting have helped businesses recover and grow strongly. The number of domestic tourists in 2024 far exceeded that of 2019. The number of international visitors grew at the fastest rate in the region, reaching a record level in 2019. Especially in the first quarter of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached over 6 million, an increase of 29.6% over the same period last year, the highest level ever," Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy emphasized.

However, the tourism industry still faces many difficulties and challenges. Tourism infrastructure is not really complete. Coordination between relevant parties and linkages between localities are still ineffective. This reality leads to the low competitiveness of Vietnamese brands on the world tourism map.
According to Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy, the results achieved are not yet commensurate with the potential, and competitiveness is still low compared to many countries in the region. Therefore, it is necessary to further promote the role of professional social organizations, gather businesses, and work with state management agencies to develop the tourism industry to its full potential, becoming a key economic sector, contributing significantly to the country's development in the new era.
