Vinh Phuc will rename commune-level administrative units according to people's wishes.

The Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee has just sent a document to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front and local agencies informing them about the implementation of collecting public opinions on the names of commune-level administrative units after the rearrangement.

Previously, implementing Resolution No. 43-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vinh Phuc province advocated arranging 121 current communes, wards and towns into 36 new commune-level administrative units (32 communes, 4 wards).

Of which, 13 new wards and communes are named after the local history and cultural traditions, including: Vinh Phuc, Vinh Yen, Phuc Yen wards and the communes of Song Lo, Lap Thach, Son Dong, Tam Dao, Tam Duong, Vinh Tuong, Tho Tang, Yen Lac, Te Lo, Binh Xuyen.

According to the proposed plan for unit names after the rearrangement, commune-level administrative units will be numbered in order. For example, in Song Lo district, the communes of Song Lo, Song Lo 1, Song Lo 2, Song Lo 3 ​​will be established; Lap Thach district will establish the communes of Lap Thach 1, Lap Thach 2, Lap Thach 3, Lap Thach 4...

According to the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee, the work of collecting public opinions on the project of rearranging commune-level administrative units of Vinh Phuc province and the project of merging Vinh Phuc province, Hoa Binh province, and Phu Tho province into the new Phu Tho province was carried out in a democratic manner, in accordance with regulations and procedures, and creating consensus among the people.

However, some opinions of the People wish and propose that the competent authority research and rename the 23 new communes and wards with tentative names associated with serial numbers in a direction that is related to the historical and cultural factors of the locality.

Therefore, the Standing Committee of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee requested the Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee to direct departments and branches to conduct research, absorb people's opinions, and name new commune-level administrative units to ensure stability, suitability with historical and cultural characteristics, and create high consensus and unity.

The Standing Committees of the District and City Party Committees directed the implementation of the renaming plan and organized to collect public opinions on the plan to change the name of commune-level administrative units from commune and ward names associated with serial numbers to those associated with local historical and cultural traditions.

In particular, the new name must ensure that it does not overlap with the names of communes and wards of the same level in districts and cities in the two provinces of Phu Tho and Hoa Binh.
