Vinh Long organizes the 2024 Congress of Ethnic Minorities

NDO - On the morning of November 28, Vinh Long province held the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in 2024. Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh attended the congress.

Attending the congress were 250 outstanding delegates, representing more than 27 thousand ethnic minorities, dignitaries and religious followers in Vinh Long province.

Over the past 5 years, with the attention, direction and timely support of the Central Government and the leaders of Vinh Long province, the socio-economic situation of ethnic minority areas has continued to develop quite comprehensively. The lives of the people have been increasingly improved.

National defense, political security and social order and safety in ethnic minority areas have been maintained and stabilized. From patriotic emulation movements, many outstanding collectives and individuals have emerged, many advanced models in the fields of politics, economics, culture and society.

By the end of 2023, the number of poor ethnic minority households was 301, accounting for 3.4% of the total number of ethnic minority households in the province; 1,051 households were reduced, equivalent to a 15.32% reduction in the poverty rate, an average reduction of 3.06%/year...

Speaking at the congress, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh highly appreciated the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Long province in the past time. In particular, he praised the efforts of ethnic minorities who have joined hands and united to gradually "change the face" of their homeland, contributing to the people of the whole country in the current cause of innovation, development and national defense.
