In a document sent to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Vingroup said: Implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son in Notice No. 63 dated February 26 of the Government Office, the group has urgently researched and coordinated with localities and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to propose power projects into the adjusted Power Plan VIII and the Plan to implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII.
The projects proposed by Vingroup Corporation are based on criteria under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
In addition, to improve project efficiency, in line with the power capacity allocation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vingroup has also studied some additional selection criteria, such as: provinces with potential land fund, connection capability and proximity to large load centers to build large capacity projects, becoming national energy centers (>5,000 MW); good wind and radiation potential; selecting technology types and locations to optimize project development time, power production efficiency and financial efficiency.

On that basis, the Group submitted to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son for consideration and approval to supplement the adjusted Power Plan VIII and the Implementation Plan of the adjusted Power Plan VIII for renewable energy power projects and LNG thermal power plants.
Specifically, regarding renewable energy, Vingroup proposed to implement a total capacity scale of renewable energy projects implemented in the 2025-2035 period of 47,500 MW, of which the 2025-2030 period is 20,500 MW, with a total investment of about 20-25 billion USD in the 2025-2030 period.
Regarding the LNG thermal power plant, the group proposed to add the LNG thermal power plant project in Hai Phong to the adjusted Plan VIII to compensate for the capacity of some large thermal power plant projects that are slow to be implemented, such as: Nam Dinh I BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,200 MW); Quang Tri BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,320 MW); Vinh Tan III BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,980 MW); Song Hau II BOT Thermal Power Plant (2,120 MW).
Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant has a capacity of 5,000 MW, implementation period 2025-2030, total investment of about 5.5 billion USD.
Vingroup affirmed that with its capacity and experience, the group is committed to implementing the project in the 2025-2030 period of 25,500 MW (total investment of about 25-30 billion USD) of renewable energy and LNG power. The remaining 27,000 MW will be invested in the 2031-2035 period according to the approved schedule, ensuring the highest quality of the project.
