Vingroup proposes to cover the cost of researching the metro line from the city center to Can Gio

The Department of Transport has just sent a document responding to Vingroup Corporation regarding the proposed investment plan for a metro line connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio district.

According to the document, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that on January 6, it held a meeting with relevant departments, agencies and sectors about Vingroup's proposal to build a metro line to Can Gio. At the meeting, Vingroup's representative gave a preliminary report on the proposed investment plan and the opinions of the units attending the meeting.

Vingroup: Building a subway to Can Gio is in line with the trend

After the meeting, Vingroup agreed to send a document to the Department of Transport to clearly define the content of the project research proposal. This includes the technical plan, research scope, project investment form, research funding source, rights and responsibilities of related parties, etc. On that basis, the Department of Transport will advise and propose the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to consider approving the project implementation procedures. In the proposal document, Vingroup said that Ho Chi Minh City is carrying out procedures related to the establishment, appraisal and approval of the project to adjust the Ho Chi Minh City Master Plan to 2040, with a vision to 2060. In the traffic planning plan in the master plan adjustment project, the City People's Committee is assigning relevant departments and branches to study the addition of an urban railway line (appropriate type) from the center to Can Gio district, according to the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. In addition, Ho Chi Minh City is also planning to build Can Gio Bridge with the goal of starting construction on April 30 and completing it in 2028. When completed, the project will replace Binh Khanh ferry, which is currently the only means of transport connecting Can Gio district with the central area. At the same time, it will promote the development of sea encroachment projects and Can Gio international transit port. Vingroup Group recognizes that the research and investment in the urban railway connecting the city center with Can Gio district according to Ho Chi Minh City's policy is completely consistent with the trend and needs of traffic development. Thereby ensuring the connection between the city center and Can Gio district - a new development center of Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, the combination of investment in the urban railway with investment in the construction of Can Gio bridge will ensure the synchronization of the technical system. This helps save time and investment costs in building Can Gio bridge as well as bridges for the urban railway.

Vingroup self-funds research

Therefore, Vingroup Corporation proposes that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allow it to research, survey and propose an investment plan for the urban railway line at its own expense. The research will be conducted in combination with the investment in the construction of Can Gio Bridge to ensure connectivity, synchronization of technical infrastructure and save investment costs. Vingroup Corporation proposes that Ho Chi Minh City create favorable conditions for it to coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and the consulting unit implementing the Can Gio Bridge project to research, survey and find a suitable technical and effective investment plan to combine the urban railway project with the Can Gio Bridge project. Based on the approval of the policy, Vingroup will closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City's departments, branches and consulting units with professional capacity and experience to soon complete the research, establish and propose a feasible and effective plan to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration as soon as possible.

Prime Minister suggests Vingroup build metro from city center to Can Gio

At the conference announcing the planning of Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 on January 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Ho Chi Minh City's completion and putting into operation metro line No. 1.
