DrAid™ EndoAI is the result of close cooperation between VinBrain and the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary Research and Training. The solution is developed on a big data platform, including nearly 500,000 real endoscopic images labeled by a team of leading endoscopists, ensuring quality in training AI models.
Accordingly, DrAid™ EndoAI is one of the very few comprehensive AI solutions for endoscopy developed by a Vietnamese medical technology company, a solution capable of detecting and warning of many types of digestive lesions on just one platform.
Specifically, DrAid™ EndoAI is capable of detecting 5 types of lesions for both the upper and lower digestive tracts, and giving immediate audio warnings when detecting signs of cancer. With a high accuracy of up to 95.9%, this solution promises to shape the competitive advantage of Vietnamese products over "foreign" products currently present in the domestic market.
In fact, after only 2 months, DrAid™ EndoAI was initially successfully tested at Hoang Long General Clinic (Hanoi) and recorded the actual effectiveness of many features from the feedback of doctors here, including:
- Detect and classify 5 types of upper and lower gastrointestinal tract lesions in real time.
- Real-time audible warning and marking of malignant lesions.
- Automatically record the entire endoscopy process and capture images of the lesion.
- Automatically generate reports with images after each endoscopy.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Viet Hang - Director of the Endoscopy Center of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, the rate of gastrointestinal cancers including stomach cancer, colon cancer, and esophageal cancer accounts for a large proportion of malignant diseases in Vietnam.
According to a report conducted in Ho Chi Minh City, up to 64.5% of advanced gastric cancer patients had not detected lesions during endoscopy at other units within the previous 3 years. This fact is truly a warning bell about the situation of missing lesions during digestive endoscopy. The number of patients indicated for endoscopy every day at medical facilities is very large, while the team of endoscopists only meets 5-10% of the actual demand.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Viet Hang also stated that one of the potential keys is the application of AI technology to endoscopy. This is also the reason why the "all-in-one" system integrating many algorithms into one system that can be used for both the upper and lower digestive tracts will help solve the problem of missing lesions. Unlike humans, the AI in DrAid™ EndoAI is not affected by work pressure or subjective factors. The system can make objective and accurate assessments based entirely on data, minimizing the risk of missing lesions. Thanks to that, patients will be detected early and have the opportunity for more effective treatment.
Prof. Dr. Dao Van Long - Vice President of the Vietnam Gastroenterology Association, Former Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, and Chairman of the Founding Council of the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary Research and Training shared after a period of using DrAid™ EndoAI: “We are currently using 8 artificial intelligence software in endoscopy from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Vietnam. Among them, DrAid™ EndoAI is one of the 3 best software we have ever used. There are some features that we highly appreciate, for example, all suspected malignant lesions are warned by text displayed on the screen and sound, helping doctors quickly identify this type of lesion” .
Mr. Truong Quoc Hung - CEO of VinBrain shared more: " VinBrain team is determined to launch AI software for endoscopy "Make-in-Vietnam" in the shortest time to maintain the pioneering position in AI applications for medicine in the Vietnamese market".
The launch of DrAid™ EndoAI affirms VinBrain's position in developing specialized AI solutions in healthcare. In addition to the paraclinical support platforms in diagnostic imaging through X-ray, CT, MRI, the expansion into the endoscopy industry not only demonstrates the capacity of the team of applied scientists but also VinBrain's commitment to applying AI to solve major challenges in healthcare. This is an important part of VinBrain's long-term plan to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem for the healthcare industry, thereby improving the quality of services and healthcare for patients around the world.
