Vietnamese airlines lead 3 growth indexes in Asia-Pacific

According to OAG, Vietjet is the leading low-cost airline in terms of capacity growth, short-haul frequency and route network in Asia-Pacific.

This information is stated in a recently published report by the world's leading organization specializing in monitoring and statistics on tourism and aviation - OAG. This unit said that the statistics are based on the world's largest information network on flights and markets. On that basis, OAG identified the most successful airlines and airports in Asia-Pacific in the period 2019-2023.

According to OAG, Vietjet Air leads in two categories as the region's fastest growing low-cost airline in terms of both operating capacity and flight frequency on short routes (under 4,630 km).

Following Vietnam Airlines in these two categories is India’s Indigo. In terms of long-haul flights, OAG identified Air India as the leading airline in terms of capacity and frequency of operations, followed by Singapore’s Scoot.

In addition, OAG also honored Vietjet as the "network expansion champion" when it opened a series of new routes in 2023. The second and third positions in this statistical category also belonged to two Indian airlines, Vistara and Indigo, respectively.

Last year, Vietjet added 33 more international and domestic routes. As a result, the airline owns a network of 125 routes, including 80 international routes. This low-cost airline operates about 133,000 flights, transporting over 25 million passengers, including more than 7.6 million international passengers (an increase of 183% compared to 2022)...

Viettel surpasses VNPT and Mobifone, wins spectrum auction to deploy 5G

Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group announced that it has officially and successfully auctioned the right to use radio frequencies in the 2,500 - 2,600 MHz band. Viettel will hold this right for the next 15 years.

The 2500-2600 MHz frequency band is planned by the Ministry of Information and Communications to deploy mobile information systems according to 5G, 4G standards and subsequent technologies.

Viettel has the right to use radio frequencies in the 2,500 - 2,600 MHz band for the next 15 years.

For Viettel, the 2500-2600 MHz frequency band is of particular importance because this is an effective frequency band for Viettel to deploy simultaneously for both 4G and 5G mobile networks, thereby improving the quality of current 4G services and officially providing 5G services. This is also the optimal frequency band with a coverage area 1.3 times larger than the C band (3500 MHz).

Currently, 5G devices researched and manufactured by Viettel are ready to deploy on the 2500 - 2600 MHz band. Viettel plans to launch the 5G network nationwide in the near future.

Previously, on January 11, 2024, the Prime Minister approved Vietnam's Information and Communications Infrastructure Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

The plan sets a target of a minimum average download speed of 100 Mbps for 5G networks by 2025, and 99% of the population by 2030. To realize the above goals, 2024 is the ripe time to license commercial 5G spectrum.

On January 17, the Minister of Information and Communications approved the plan to organize an auction of radio frequency usage rights for the 2500-2600 MHz band and the 3700-3900 MHz band for terrestrial mobile information systems according to IMT standards.
