Ericsson will deploy the 5G network for Viettel in the capital Hanoi, the northern regions, and the central provinces of Vietnam. At the same time, Ericsson will also modernize the 4G network for Viettel in the above geographical areas.
This cooperation once again affirms the deep and trustworthy partnership between Ericsson and Viettel, with the goal of joining hands to build a strong digital infrastructure for Vietnam and bring superior connectivity through 5G technology.
Ericsson's Radio System portfolio of advanced technology solutions will help enhance Viettel's network capacity, ensuring a fast and stable 5G deployment, bringing high-speed connection experiences to customers nationwide.
Viettel is also ready to reallocate existing frequencies to New Radio (NR) technology, which will share the 2600 MHz band for both 4G and 5G NSA (non-standalone) networks. At the same time, Viettel also provides directions for the deployment of 5G SA (Standalone) networks in the future, opening up opportunities for development and provision of new services.
Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, shared: "This year will mark an important development milestone for Vietnam with the commercial deployment of 5G. 5G technology not only brings superior experiences to users but also opens up many new business opportunities for enterprises, promotes the development of Industry 4.0 and strongly supports the country's digital transformation process".
Ms. Rita Mokbel, President of Ericsson Vietnam, affirmed: "5G is an important foundation of the digital economy and a driving force for inclusive growth. Our partnership with Viettel opens a new era for technological advancement in Vietnam, with 5G acting as a catalyst for innovation and digital transformation."
Ms. Rita Mokbel said that they will work together to deploy and apply new areas in 5G such as network slicing, enterprise applications and expand use cases in Industry 4.0.
In addition, Ericsson and Viettel signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote 5G deployment in Vietnam. The two parties will cooperate to develop innovative 5G applications and build an ecosystem for application developers in Vietnam to create advanced, secure and reliable solutions based on 5G technology.
Ericsson and Viettel will focus on key areas of cooperation such as 5G network slicing to provide specialized connections, supporting developers through sharing network APIs and knowledge of advanced technologies. This initiative will not only promote the commercialization of 5G in Vietnam but also contribute to national economic growth by promoting the potential of Industry 4.0 applications.
