From January 1, Vietnam Airlines officially launched the Upstream Check-in (UCI) service, allowing passengers traveling from mainland China or Macao to Vietnam and vice versa to check in directly when transiting at Hong Kong International Airport.
UCI service offers maximum convenience to passengers. Accordingly, passengers only need to complete procedures once at the departure point, including passport control, receiving boarding passes and sending luggage directly to the final destination.
UCI service brings maximum convenience to passengers.
This helps passengers avoid visas and passport checks in Hong Kong (China), minimizing procedures such as baggage claim and check-in for the next flight, thereby saving 30-40 minutes of connecting time.
Currently, UCI service in Hong Kong (China) is deployed at 7 seaports and 1 land port in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), receiving the connection participation of 30 major international airlines.
Passengers can use UCI service at Zhuhai mainland port and seaports including: Shekou (Shenzhen), Furong (Shenzhen), Zhongshan, Nansha (Guangzhou), Humen (Dongguan), Pazhou (Guangzhou), Macao seaport.
Vietnam Airlines is currently operating a direct flight between Hanoi and Hong Kong (China) with a frequency of 7 flights per week. It is expected that the airline will open a direct flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong (China) in 2025, providing more convenient and flexible connections, meeting the increasing travel needs of passengers, while contributing to promoting trade, tourism and economic cooperation between regions.
