Vietnam Airlines in top 10 punctual airlines in Asia - Pacific region

According to the announcement of aviation data analytics company Cirium, a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Vietnam Airlines ranked 6th in the top 10 airlines with the highest on-time performance rate in Asia-Pacific in 2024, with an on-time flight rate of 76.7%, 3 places higher than in 2023.

With the above ranking results, Vietnam Airlines continues to affirm that its products and services have been and are among the world's leading airlines such as Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines... contributing to raising the position of Vietnamese aviation on the world aviation map. Previously in 2023, Vietnam Airlines was also in the Top 10 most punctual airlines in Asia - Pacific with the 9th position.

According to Cirium, 2024 is a difficult year for airlines around the world, facing widespread engine failures, disruptions in the supply chain of aircraft materials and spare parts, shortages of human resources in the aviation industry, and extreme and unseasonal weather. Despite these challenges, airlines and airports have worked hard to ensure their passengers have a safe and on-time trip. Domestically, according to a report by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is also the airline with the highest on-time rate in 2024 with a rate of approximately 82%. This result is significantly higher than the average of 73.7% of the entire Vietnamese aviation industry. Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines said: “By maintaining a stable on-time performance index and always being among the top most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, Vietnam Airlines not only affirms its outstanding service quality but also steadily enhances its position on the world aviation map. This demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing the best experience for passengers, while maintaining the trust and reputation of Vietnam Airlines in a fiercely competitive industry.”

To maintain and ensure the on-time index, Vietnam Airlines has implemented a series of synchronous solutions such as quickly receiving additional aircraft to increase transportation capacity; optimizing aircraft maintenance through daily technical inspections; focusing on adjusting aircraft operating hours, optimizing operating hours during the day and increasing flights in the afternoon and evening. Regarding the impact of bad weather, the airline always has a scenario to respond to possible situations. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines proactively adjusts schedules at airports affected by unusual weather developments to limit waiting and diverting flights. The airline also strictly implements notification when flights change schedules via email, text messages, phone calls, website and fanpage to customers. In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines will continue to optimize operations and exploitation, focusing on applying modern technologies to maintain and improve punctuality index, thereby bringing the best experience to passengers and affirming the position of Vietnam's aviation industry in the international market.
