The memorandum of understanding between Vietnam Airlines and GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology was signed under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders and representatives of agencies, departments, and businesses of the two countries.
This MoU marks the commitment of both parties to attract nearly 300,000 tourists from China to Vietnam in the period of 2024 - 2030, while contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam as an attractive destination for Chinese tourists. According to the MoU, Vietnam Airlines and GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology also agreed to cooperate closely in many areas such as aviation services, marketing, exchange of experiences in tourism development and new trends in destinations between the two countries. The two parties will also cooperate in organizing events in China to promote Vietnam as an attractive tourist destination in the region. The MoU signing ceremony between Vietnam Airlines and GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology took place within the framework of the "Vietnam Tourism Introduction Program". This is one of the important activities organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aiming to promote cooperation and tourism development between Vietnam and China. The event is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to introduce outstanding destinations, unique culture and diverse tourism services, creating conditions for Chinese businesses and tourists to access and learn more about Vietnam. China has always been one of Vietnam's key tourism markets. In 2024, the Chinese market began to recover after a long period of being affected by Covid-19. According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Chinese tourists to Vietnam in the first 9 months of the year reached 2.7 million, an increase of 141.4% over the same period. For Vietnam Airlines alone, the number of passengers transported to China in the first 9 months of the year reached 483,000, 2.4 times higher than the same period in 2023. The airline is currently operating 5 regular routes to China, including routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to major cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai. In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines plans to continue to increase the frequency of regular flights, open new routes and increase the use of wide-body aircraft to supplement capacity in the context of good market demand growth. At the same time, the airline will coordinate with agencies and partners of the two countries to develop programs to promote new destinations in Vietnam for Chinese tourists, and introduce potential destinations in China to the Vietnamese people.
