According to a representative of Vietnam Airlines, the first additional aircraft will land at Tan Son Nhat airport this afternoon, January 25, and is expected to be put into operation from January 26. Vietnam Airlines will receive the remaining aircraft in early February 2024.
The additional aircraft can accommodate 180 passengers, served by Vietnam Airlines flight attendants and foreign flight attendants according to the airline's service standards, except for the entertainment system.
Vietnam Airlines adds more aircraft to serve passenger demand during the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Vietnam Airlines has planned to arrange suitable flight schedules for Airbus A320 aircraft and flexibly adjust them according to passenger demand during peak times. The airline also recommends that passengers pay attention to complying with regulations on the number of pieces, weight, and size of luggage when traveling by plane.
Thus, up to now, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) will provide a total of 2.86 million seats during the Tet peak season on all domestic and international flight networks. To give passengers more options when booking tickets during this time, Vietnam Airlines Group has increased the number of early morning and night flights by more than 1,300 flights.
The first two additional aircraft landed at Tan Son Nhat airport on the afternoon of January 25 and were inspected and assessed for operational status.
Faced with a shortage of tickets on some routes, on January 20, the Civil Aviation Authority continued to increase 48 slots for airlines, equivalent to 48 flights, about 10,000 seats/day to supplement the routes.
In particular, priority is given to adding flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku (Gia Lai), Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Chu Lai (Quang Nam), Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak), Hue (Thua Thien-Hue), Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen), Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Binh, Hai Phong, Vinh (Nghe An).
Despite the continuous increase in flights, due to high travel demand, many flights still have a shortage of tickets and prices are very high.
According to a survey, the lowest ticket price from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi of Vietnam Airlines during the 23rd - 29th days of Tet is 3.5 - 5.3 million VND/ticket/way for economy class, the highest is up to 9.5 million VND/ticket/way for business class.
With Vietjet, for the same flight, the ticket price is "softer" but still around 3.6 - 4.5 million VND/ticket/way.
Many flights such as Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Chu Lai (Quang Nam), Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak), Hue (Thua Thien - Hue), Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen), Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Binh, Hai Phong, Vinh (Nghe An) continue to have few tickets, even the Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh routes are sold out.
